I figured you guys would like these pictures. Spotted in Memphis, Tenn. at the US 64/70 & 79 intersection.

Is it typical to combine arrows and directionals like that?

I believe using single letters for cardinal directions is deprecated by the MUTCD.  other places have used it before in the past; occasionally placing the letter inside the arrow.



I feel like I have a photo from Nebraska as well, but could not find it offhand.

For Tennessee, not always, but often.

Here is a traditional assembly with all 4 cardinal directions in the same direction.  However, the 17 south, 50 west, and 522 north should have TO banners...
