Restriction: The closed Route 309 south ramp to Tilghman Street east will open. The ramp was closed in August 2025 for interchange reconstruction. Workers will begin removing barriers Monday night (June 29) and the ramp will open Tuesday morning (June 30). This ramp will need to be closed again at some point in 2027 for additional work in that area of the interchange. This is part of the ongoing PA 309/Tilghman Street Interchange Reconstruction Project that began in the fall of 2024 and is anticipated to be complete in March 2030. PennDOT - District 11 News: Inbound Liberty Tunnel Overnight Closure Tuesday in Pittsburgh

QuotePittsburgh, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing the closure of the inbound Liberty Tunnel (Route 3069) in the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, will occur Tuesday night, July 28 weather permitting.

The inbound (northbound) Liberty Tunnel will close to traffic from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM to allow crews from Mosites Construction Company to conduct work on the tunnel roof replacement project. Inbound traffic will be detoured.

If inclement weather occurs, the closure will occur overnight from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM on Wednesday, July 29.

Posted Inbound (northbound) Detour

Take Route 51 (Saw Mill Run Boulevard) northbound
Take the left exit to I-376 West/US 19 South toward Carnegie/Airport/West End
Take Exit 69A toward US 19 South/Banksville Road
Keep left (towards South Truck 19/51) and loop back to I-376 eastbound toward Fort Pitt Tunnel
Follow eastbound I-376 through Fort Pitt Tunnel and across the Fort Pitt Bridge
For access to I-279 destinations follow I-279 signage, all other destinations take exit toward I-376 East/Monroeville
Take the left-hand exit to Grant Street (Exit 71A)
Turn right onto the Boulevard of the Allies
End detour
The Liberty Tunnel Portal roof will be replaced in 2026 on this $3.47 million project in the City of Pittsburgh. Overnight closures and detours of the Liberty Tunnel will occur during the project, however, the closures will not occur in both directions simultaneously. The overall project, which includes drainage improvements and other miscellaneous construction activities, is expected to be complete in late 2026.

QuoteThere will be nighttime closures on Route 318 in Shenango Township, Mercer County starting early next month. 

The closures are expected to be in place from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM daily between Stefahak Drive to Frampton Road to allow for the removal of the bridge carrying Interstate 80 westbound. Works is expected to start August 3, 2026, and be completed in seven days.

A temporary traffic signal system has been installed to control traffic during times when the closure is not in effect. The signal will remain until replacement work on the bridge is complete.
