US 54 leaves I-40 to join I-40 Bus, or does it? This sign says it does, and Google maps says it stays concurrent with I-40 for one more exit. Which one is it? Nobody knows  :-D

Today is August 5. Post photos for the August 5 challenge today. I've been seeing a lot of posts where people are off by a day in either direction. But today is August 5, so do the August 5 challenge today. We can use the last 6 days of this month for catch-up posts.

I'd like to mention that I finally updated the description of the rules for Seasons 11 and 12 in the original post.

QuoteSeason 11, in September and October: I specify the ones digits, and you post the exit signage along a numbered expressway, wherein the route number of the destination route and the exit number have the specified ones digits.
Season 12, in November and December: I specify the tens digits, and you post the exit signage along a numbered expressway, wherein the route number of the destination route and the exit number have the specified tens digits.

If this description is hard to understand, let me know. I might try to reword it again.

If this description is hard to understand, let me know. I might try to reword it again.

I think the idea is pretty clear: we are matching pairs of numbers on exit signs, where one of them has to be the exit number and the other is a route number on that sign that is served by that exit.  It doesn't matter which of the numbers matches the target digits.

But a couple things:

I assume it would be invalid to play a large overhead assembly with multiple exits listed where the exit number matches with a route number in the same image, but that route number is either the mainline or a number of a route served by a different exit that happen to be on the same sign assembly.

In the description, I don't know the intent of "numbered expressway".  Putting aside that "expressway" can mean different things and assuming it means "a route with exits", what is the "numbered" part referring to?  I assume "numbered" exits.  I think a matching exit number on a route with no numeric desingnation itself would be permitted.  For example, if I had a sign for Exit 13 serving New York 12 on an unnumbered parkway in New York, that would be a valid play for ones digit 2/3 day.  Maybe "numbered expressway" becomes "a route with numbered exits".

To your first point I would make the same assumption, but of course I'm not making the rules.

To your second point, I "liked" the rewording a couple posts back but I glossed past the part about the sign being "along a numbered expressway."  This goes back to the conversation from several weeks ago.  If the X-Y elements are the exit number and the route number to which that exit serves, the road on which the sign exists should be irrelevant.  The sign can be along a numbered Interstate or it can be along an unnumbered gravel township road.  Again, my opinion.

I have updated the description again. The specification of a "Numbered expressway" only applied in the obsolete version of the rules that relied upon the number of the expressway, as opposed to the number of the destination route of the offramp. Long story short, the new descriptions are shown below.
