Can't seem to find a thread for this, except on the Pacific regional board.

Saw this today on my local NBC affiliate's (WPTZ) 6pm newscast:

The station serves the "North Country" of NY, plus all of VT and the upper Valley region of NH.

I've seen them incorrectly sign US 11 as NY 11, but nothing like this before!

Sometimes when you play around with the weather radar thingy on NBC Connecticut's website, a whole bunch of incorrect road shields pop up! The "Interstate 2" and "Interstate 11" shields are really CT Routes 2 and 11, respectively.

Interstate 82?!  That is absolutely hilarious that they're taking what for most of its length is a little two-lane road and calling it an interstate.  (To be fair, the spot that has the interstate shield is a super-3, so it's a little bit more substantial, but it's still far from meeting interstate standards.)

Funny that when you go to the NBC 30 radar, the I-82 shield looks like its on CT 9.

Also zooming around, I spot I- shields for routes 3,6,7,8,9,17,72..,

So, in other words, they think everything's an interstate.

By the way, I used to watch that station back when I lived in Connecticut.

2 is about the only freeway in Connecticut that could be an Interstate if it wanted to without much effort. (11 could be once it's completed.) The others are too short or substandard to be worth the bother. Of note is that the upper part of 9 was built as I-291, so it could at least be an Interstate between 84 and 91.

If they ever get rid of the traffic lights in Middletown and upgrade that portion of CT 9, it "could" be an interstate all the way down to 95.  Then CT 9 could get its place back on the surface roads up to (at least) Hartford via 154 & 99.

And wasn't there an idea being tossed around to make CT 8 an interstate from 95 up to 84?

If so, then this one would take a bit more work, as there are definitely some substandard segments (and not just at the 8/84 interchange either).

That whole freeway is substandard, from the median to the shoulder to the curves. Just leave it.
