South Texas is seeing around normal to slightly above normal.  Tropical conditions still remain as dew points hold firmly into the 70s but staying short of 80 degrees.  Looks like we should be just about done with Heat Index in the 110s thankfully (I hope stays under 110 degrees at least until Easter or even later).

Partly cloudy and 59. Likely the last 70-degree day of the year.

I have my heat on for the first time of the season. Only a high of 47 and drizzly all day.

If I have to turn my heat on for the first time earlier than Thanksgiving, it's going to be a rough winter.

We'll skip right over our first 50s of the season and will be getting our first taste of the 40s this weekend with 40-mph north gusts. Gonna be a shock to the system ... but a good one in my estimation. This triple-digit heat index in mid-October stuff is getting old quick.

40° outside when I got up at 7:00. Not a cloud in the sky that I can see—the sky is a deep blue that reminds me of the sort of sky I remember seeing during trips to rural locations in Canada. Looks like a glorious day, much as yesterday was. It's down to 64° in the house. I have the AC set to hold 78 (basically ensuring it won't run) and I'm resisting turning on the heat because I don't think it's supposed to stay this cool. I did turn on the heated toilet seat this morning, though. The cool air is great for sleeping.

The dark mornings at 7:00 at this time of year do make me wonder why some people want sunrises at 8:30 AM in December, but I suppose that's another topic.

"That sounded stupid, didn't it?"

We are as normal as it gets for this time of the year.  The gulf-generated tropical moisture loads are mostly drained of the humidity; the Heat Index is only a few degrees higher than the actual air temperature itself.
