The Mashantucket Pequots paid for a $95 million bypass of Foxwoods Casino along Route 2 in Ledyard, CT. It opened in Summer 2009, with some unique features:

  • "Super 4": 4 lanes with interchanges, but undivided
  • a BGS for CT 214 with an exit tab that says simply "EXIT"
  • a ramp from CT 2 eastbound that flies over, then loops under, the mainline toward CT 214

The EXIT tab is unique, but here's further proof of something that keeps bugging me.  CT has started to right align or left align exit tabs over the past few years.... but there are several new sign installations where the revert back to center tabs... Are they going with proper side alignment or centered?  They just can't seem to settle on a standard.

The "EXIT" with no number tab is actually specified in the 2009 MUTCD. Of course, the reason for it is so it can be placed at the left or the right to indicate the side the exit is on. Putting it in the middle is just a waste of time.
