My next road trip will be to Florida, on Thursday, to pick up this little darling:

I'm very excited!  I think I'm gonna name her Jinjing.

I LOVE Chinese Cresteds.  She won't be my first.  Two months ago, I lost my best friend of the past decade when he got into some spoiled food, then very quickly got very sick.  I didn't get him to the vet in time.  His name was Pepper:

We were on a kayaking trip that day; Pepper used to love to go kayaking.  I hope Jinjing will too.

So who else is crazy about dogs and/or cats?

Wow, that dog's lived a long life!  I've never had a border collie, but when I was a kid I had a Lassie-type.  From the mid 80s to the late 90s I had a wonderful tri-color collie named Gussie.

During my time in Louisiana, my parents decided to get a dog (for the first time in over 25 years). I don't know if "train" would be the right word, but the dog became a companion with my parents on their trips, be it to the post office or supermarket, and longer trips to such places as Michigan's U.P. and even Baton Rouge (while I was still living down there).
Please, don't sue Alex & Andy over what I wrote above

I like cats, but I won't ever be getting one as I am a tad allergic.

I can be around them with no problem, but whenever I sleep over at the place of someone who has a cat, I wake up all stuffy and sniffley. The dander gets in the linens, and when you spend the night breathing it...
If you always take the same road, you will never see anything new.

Our family has 2 cats that we adopted in 2006 that are actually twins. First one is named Samantha while the second Lisa:

And in 2008/09, we had a pet squirrel, named Lignut (mix between Ligget, my last name, and nut, because it's a squirrel).

I don't have any at the moment, but this is our family dog fleet- our family is in the pet supply/dog training/dog boarding business, so dogs are a pretty big part of our lives.

The leftmost dog was my grandfather's dog until he passed away and we took her in. The Viszlas on the end are very very well trained (one of them goes out to the mailbox every day and retrieves the mail) and we use those dogs for demonstrating how good we are at dog training. The brown and white springer does only have three legs. She was shot by a neighboring asshole rancher while wandering around his property in the winter (ie all the livestock were down south in winter pasture so she couldn't have possibly be threatening anything). We're very lucky she's alive. She's the sweetest dog ever- my Mom spoils her to death.

I'm closest to the black and white spaniel in the middle- he's 14 now (and still going strong). My parents got him so I could have a puppy to grow up with.

We also have a black cat that we found living in our garage as a kitten. She thinks she's in charge of all those dogs and is not afraid to exercise her authority.

I do not have any pets but my roommate has a dog: a 160 pound Rottweiler! The sweetest animal alive.  He is capable of opening doors, and it's been known to happen that I wake up in the morning with him in my bed!

I have three dogs. A miniature pinscher-chihuahua mix, and two black labs.
The min-pin/chihuahua is named Sam
The labs are Elm (bigger) and Ivie (smaller).
We found the labs at Ivie Reservoir, at a place called Elm Creek. They were about 5 months old, and they probly wouldn't have lived much longer if we hadn't of rescued them..
Their my babies, and Sam is my buddy, we've had him for about 8 years, he's awsome.
I love dogs, but I strongly dislike cats... If I could I'd have a pet  penguin. But no....

When I was in high school I used to house/dogsit for a family that had two newfoundlands and a chihuahua. The Newfies were huge oafs and the chihuahua was named "Paco"- that combination of dogs always struck me as really hilarious. Does Sam think he's as big as Elm and Ivie? Paco thought he was just as big as those two newfies

Well, I made it to Milton, FL and back.  I borrowed a GPS to help me get to the breeder's house, and decided to also use it to get through Mobile since I wanted to use the old Bankhead Tunnel and I knew that a couple turns would be required.  I very much enjoyed the drive through that city.

I'm very excited about my new dog, Jinjing (Jin for short) and I can't resist showing her off a little.  It's a lot of fun having a puppy around the house for the first time in many years.

This is my current cat "Twitchy":

He got the name because he has a big bushy tail and jumps nervously like the squirrel in the movie "Hoodwinked"

...it's been known to happen that I wake up in the morning with him in my bed!

Well, it's been "known to happen" that my CCs find someplace other than my bed to sleep.  If, before I had ever met one, someone had told me that Chinese Cresteds were bred to be bed-warmers I would have thought that sounded crazy.  But now that I've got my second one, I believe it completely.  Whenever there's the slightest chill, these little critters turn on some sort of internal heater - warmth just oozes from them.  They'll shiver like crazy if you leave them naked, but put a shirt on them or a sheet over them and the heat is on!  The fact that they have no fur makes it easy to sleep next to them, which is good since these dogs just about always get their way, and their way is to sleep in a bed with their human.

It's not just the hairless feature that makes these dogs so unique.  They have sweat glands, but since they lack fur they have no dander.  Thus, they (slowly) build up a rather human-like body odor.  Weirdest thing I've ever seen.
