I can't remember the last time Kentucky relocated a US route with a concurrency. You may have to look back to the late 80s or early 90s when US 23 and US 460 were moved to a new alignment in Floyd and Johnson counties. I don't know if AASHTO has records online from that far back or not.

Does the US 52/US 119 'plex that briefly crosses into Kentucky count?

That's West Virginia's baby. Kentucky does not even officially acknowledge its existence. WV does all maintenance on it. Prior to that four-lane being built, the road was entirely on WV's side of the river.

It doesn't seem like that road's been open all that many years, but the signs have already been replaced on it (with Clearview).
Government would be tolerable if not for politicians and bureaucrats.

I read somewhere that when 52/119 crosses into Kentucky, the speed limit drops from 65 to 55. Is this true?

SB yes, as part of approaching Williamson WV.  It does not toggle back and forth between 55 and 65 where it ducks in and out of KY

QuoteUS 60 relocation (east of Owensboro, KY)

I wonder why Kentucky forgot about submitting a request for US-231 along that same segment?  Sure, KY only lists one route internally, but, the AASHTO needs to know about all the US highways on a segment.  So, does this mean officially US-231 now has a gap?

HB, maybe you should mention this to some of your higher-ups to get an application submitted for US-231 as well for the fall meeting?

I don't know that Kentucky "forgot," per se, but the concurrency will be signed, so it may be a moot point. The Division of Planning takes care of route numbering, so if someone wanted to contact them to inquire, I'm sure they would provide a logical answer.

Still, I would think the AASHTO would like to know about this to keep the logs up-to-date, wouldn't you agree?

Starts out as 55 when you cross the river going north, from what I think was a 35 mph zone on US 119 in South Williamson. It stays 55 until you enter WV for the final time, whereupon it increases to 65 without any change in road quality. The speed limit in Kentucky for non-freeways is 55 mph, period. (Except once upon a time, I heard that the speed limit on US 68 between Bowling Green and Hopkinsville had been raised to either 60 or 65, but have seen no signage in person to indicate such.)

What's with US 6 in Colorado? Is the route officially discontinuous now?

IIRC the separate segments of US-6 in Colorado are legislatively/internally listed as "US-6A," "US-6B," "US-6C," etc. All signed as US-6.

Only the main document, not the detailed submissions :(
US 6 "elimination" (moved onto I-70 from Rifle to Chacra, CO)

US-6 remains signed (at the same sporadic level as it was) through Rifle and central Garfield County, Colorado as of 2 weeks ago.   Seems CDOT is in no hurry to remove the US-6 designation.

I had forgotten about this.  I have yet, thankfully, to see any I-840 signs going up in Tennessee.

You mean the city of Rifle is in no hurry to remove the US-6 designation?

Only a mile was removed (because it was handed over to the city) and there was one sign for US6 on it, that GMSV shows in 2012 having a 'TO' banner on it (because they put it over the wrong shield and it should have been on the I-70 one next to it?) already. Had the CO-13 signs gone?

All the signs for CO-13 and US-6 are intact in Rifle.  There are no CO-13 reassurance signs with the US-6 signs on the short multiplex, but there is a standalone BGS on US-6 West saying TO CO-13 -- CRAIG/MEEKER.

As far as the proposal to reroute US 6 from Rifle to Chacra (Exit 109/Clear Creek) via I-70, those US 6 signs remain untouched and a few were replaced with new US-6 signs with the 2016 CDOT sticker on the front corner.

I don't know about the part mentioned, but there's a section of US 68 posted at 65 between the Cumberland River and I-24:  Streetview eastbound

The cost to replace signs on state routes and interstates is $230,000. - See more at: https://tn.gov/tdot/news/44772#sthash.unhNRLMo.dpuf

Now see TDOT is screaming for funds and they want to have the legislature raise the fuel tax.  What a waste of $230,000 that could go to fixing a couple of pot holes or a guardrail.  What a farce indeed.

That seems kind of cheap to me. NYSDOT reported to sign NY Routes 49 and 365 as NY Route 790 would be around $3M!

vdeane

I would assume the NY figure includes PR or something.  I-840 was TN 840, so no need to do much for that change... just slap the new shields down and call it done.  Plus NY would likely contract out for the work, whereas I get the feeling TN is using their own maintenance forces.

Everything costs more in NYC...and NYSDOT's Region 2.  Two words:  Utica Mafia. :D

Well there's only one solution to the Utica Mafia...

A relocation of US 17 / US 92 was approved by SCOH on August 1st, 2016.  Here's the documentation.

This is my hometown and I've never heard anything about this, and doing a cursory search doesn't show me anything further.
Is there a reason for this change? Timeframe?

I know Sanford was building some sort of River walk when I lived there 2013-15.  It just adds two turns to 17/92 when the current route is more direct. I guess they want to keep the US routes on 4 lane divided highways.  Will go to state maintenance or Seminole County

Avalanchez71

So will Monroe Road become SR 600?  What will happen to CR 15?
