Roads You've Used More In One Direction Than The Other

This is developing for me with I-87 from exit 2 through exit 6.  A minor fender-bender that used to produce slight delays but still bearable traffic now makes the road stop and go for miles, and this seems to happen once a week these days (last week it happened two days in a row).  This is coupled with the strategy of "get off exit 6 to avoid the worst of the congestion" no longer working (that's now exit 4 or 5 and in the event of one of those crashes can be as far south as exit 2).  As a result, I'm often finding myself forced to divert onto local roads that take twice as long as what my commute would with no congestion if I want to get home on time.

Thankfully, the morning commute rarely has these problems.

I-490 between exits 21 and 25 too, now that I think about it.  While I drive it both ways when heading to/from the east, Dad doesn't, preferring instead to get on at NY 31F.  We still take I-490 on the return, however.

Is part of that due to the inconvenience of getting on I-590 NB in the vicinity of Exit 2?

I know anytime I am north/west of I-590 in that area, it feels wrong to have to go back down to Clover/Monroe to head north... and it's even more of a pain now with two new stoplights near the new Whole Foods. It seems shorter just to take either Clover or Monroe up to Elmwood Ave, but at that point you might as well just continue on Elmwood or Allens Creek if you're heading to I-490 anyways.

On the other hand, I-590 NB is prone to slowing down in the afternoon rush hour as it is - no doubt it would be even worse if there was a secondary northbound entrance from Monroe Ave EB or Allens Creek.

We don't really use exit 2 much; we tend to use exit 3 for going north and exit 1 south.  It's more a case of "why should I go north just to go south again, it's about the same time anyways".  I guess making a left turn off I-490 is enough of a disincentive to go over to I-590.

I only use the eastbound Bay Area bridges (CA-84/CA-92/I-80) since that direction is toll free, and tolls have risen so much that it's no longer economical to take the bridges westbound compared to dipping south to CA-237.

Another one I thought of, albeit more technical, is that I've traveled I-795 in North Carolina south twice, and north just once.

I'll help you out here.  I've also travelled I-795 southbound more the double I-795 northbound, but for an odd reason.  From Durham -to- Emerald Isle, routes using US-264 -to- I-795 -to- US-70 (future I-587 -to- I-795 -to- I-42) only takes about 10 minutes longer than using either US-70 from Raleigh or I-40//NC-24 from Raleigh.  So if one gets tangled up in rush hour, taking the long way around the Triangle is a no-brainer.  But I've chalked this up to poor timing of travel plans, rather than intentionally using the road in one direction.

Very interesting. In my case, last October, my way down to Myrtle Beach involved 795, but going back I did the 9-701-410-74 sequence to 95 that I've done much more frequently, so for me it was 100% intentional.

N-234 between Daroca and Soria takes the cake for me. From Daroca to Calatayud I've used many times northbound, but only once southbound, and even then only half of it (down to Morata de Jiloca), I haven't done the remainder in that direction. Same vibes for the section between Calatayud and Soria, up to four times northbound, but only once southbound from the first turnoff for AniƱon.
Supporter of the construction of several running gags, including I-366 with a speed limit of 85 mph (137 km/h) and the Hypotenuse.

Please note that I may mention "invalid" FM channels, i.e. ending in an even number or down to 87.5. These are valid in Europe.

I've only been around the north shore of Lake Superior once, so I've traveled those portions of ON 17 and ON 61 infinitely more in one direction (west) than the other.  :-D

MN 61 between Duluth and Grand Marais, southbound leads 3 to 2.
