PennDOT - District 2 News: PennDOT Announces Dates for I-80 Bridge Demolition

So half of the I-80 EB overpass of PA 26 will be demolished, requiring a closure of PA 26, but nothing is mentioned about the impact to I-80 EB itself. Will two lanes somehow be maintained during demolition?

Article says half the bridge will be demolished, so I imagine they would cross one lane over to the other side and run the other across the remaining half of the bridge. This seems to the MO for reconstruction projects on I-80 now

All 11 major contracts for the I-80/I-99 high-speed interchange project in Centre County, PA are currently under construction.

Active Construction Scope
+ The main interchange contract includes:
+ 10 bridges
+ 4 retaining walls
+ 5 box culverts
+ 7 sign structures
+ 3 changeable message boards
+ New and rebuilt roadways and ramps
+ ITS devices, highway lighting, and stream improvements
+ Hauling operations began July 14, 2025, and will continue into 2026
+ The Jacksonville Road Betterment and Local Access Interchange phases are also active or completed

Timeline
+ Construction is expected to span six seasons, with full completion by 2030
+ The project is funded in part by $170 million from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, out of a total $259 million budget
