The old VA 5 bridge you refer to was indeed a drawbridge.  Don't think we have any photos on VHP, but I know I have a few in my collection.

BTW, I disagree with you on SR 5000.  I'd rather see it as VA 5 instead of VA 321.

Do you mean mainline VA 5 on Monticello, or VA 5 ALT/BUS as it was originally proposed?

Mainline VA 5 on Monticello (with construction to bridge the railroad and tie into US 60 at Waller Mill Rd).  Downgrade existing VA 5 to a secondary route, and re-extend VA 31 back to VA 132.
