The section if the Gandy Freeway between I-275 and 4th St is currently under construction. Unfortunately too much local opposition has led to the section just west of I-275 at Grand only being built as an expressway once it gets the funding at this point. I have been trying to research what the final result of the I-275 north to Gandy West will be. Currently it is a traffic signal, however the freeway construction originally included a much needed North 275 to West Gandy/694 flyover. I cannot find any documentation either way to determine what FLDOT is planning here. Anyone here have any idea what is going to ultimately happen at I-275/Gandy .....?

They are currently upgrading Gandy Boulevard east from I-75 to SR 686/US 92, but there is no mention any work involving the I-275 interchange:

Work starts on Gandy improvements in St. Pete

QuoteConstruction is underway on an $83 million project to improve east-west traffic flow on Gandy between Fourth Street and Interstate 275. When complete, the 1.5-mile stretch will include an elevated section with six-lanes between I-275 and Martin Luther King Jr. Street and which narrows to four lanes between Martin Luther King and Fourth streets. Overpasses will be added at 94th Avenue, Martin Luther King, Roosevelt Boulevard, and Fourth.

QuoteFDOT has scheduled an open house this summer to present more information about the project slated to conclude in 2017.

Further east, a PD&E study is available for the possible construction of an elevated two-lane viaduct down the middle of Gandy Boulevard west from the south end of the Selmon Expressway as well.

Originally when the freeway section was proposed to go west as far as US 19, there was a NB I-275 to WB Gandy flyover planned. However this flyover was also supposed to connect into a C-D road system that was to cross Grand Ave. I likewise have seen nothing for construction of this flyover either, however the term 'Gandy Freeway' implies that something will be done to remove what would otherwise be a lone traffic signal on Gandy ..... Stupid locals stopping yet another freeway!  :pan:
