Lets get Kansas to co-designate I-35 as I-50 from Emporia to Metro KC

Hey if it works for US 41 in WI, let Kansas and Missouri call US 50 as Interstate 50.  US 50 is full freeway between those two points, maybe Wisconsin will take the hint and see how ridiculous signing I-41 along I-94 into Illinois is as well as having two completely different interstates go between its two largest cities.

But the difference is that US 50 is duplexed with I-35 the entire length. US 41 in Wisconsin at least has a long independent section aside from the redundancy south of Milwaukee.

Wisconsin submitted 4 proposals to AASHTO and AASHTO approved I-41.  The other 3 numbers proposed were: I-47, I-594, and I-643.  All four proposals had a common endpoint in Green Bay, but each proposal had a unique southern terminus.  The 2 reasons why I-41 was routed along I-94 south of Milwaukee was to give the road south of Milwaukee a North-South designation, and so the mile markers did not have to be changed.

I-50 would make sense for the proposed I-66 since most of the proposed route runs south of I-64, if the road ever gets built.

If Kansas did that, that would mean I-66 would then be out of the grid.  Considering my suggestion would go into effect sooner than KDOT building I-66.

It does fit in that sense. Its south of I-70 and I-64 and north of I-40 and I-44.

I think if US 50 between I-470 and I-44 in MO ever gets upgraded to limited access as an alternative to I-70 between Kansas City and St Louis, I can see MODOT designating it as I-50, even though a western reroute and extension of I-64 or a western I-68 are also an option.

So maybe we can terminate I-44 EB at the US 50 (possibly new I-50) interchange near Gray's Summit and carry I-50 into St. Louis instead of I-44?

Or maybe we could duplex I-44 and I-50 eastbound like I-44 already is with US 50 all the way to St. Louis, we could reroute US 40 across the Stan Musial Veterans Memorial Bridge with I-70 and completely bypass I-64, and I-50 could cross the Poplar Street Bridge into Illinois and terminate just after the bridge and split off I-64 and continue as normal.
