From what I could tell, about 1 mile (less than 1%) of US 302 is more than two lanes, ignoring turn lanes. The only section with more than two lanes is in Portland ME.

It would definitely be intriguing to divide things into the total and percentage of the total.


As for the total, I would have to say that the highest contenders might have to be US 101, US 127, and US 131 (with the latter two having tons of freeway mileage in Michigan particularly). Of course, this is if we exclude concurrencies with interstates, I am having trouble thinking of, at this moment, any other US Highways that come all that close to the aforementioned ones in this regard.

Of course two lanes and controlled access are not mutually exclusive.  For example , the "Super 2" US 202 overlap with Massachusetts 2 is controlled access but only one lane in each direction.

US 70 has tons of two lane segments.  US 31 has tons of controlled access highway as well.

Well US 40 in both Kansas and Missouri being on the I-70 freeway which maybe 500 miles in total.  Yes, not continuously as between Topeka and Kansas City its off the freeway due to the tolled Kansas Turnpike, and of course MO having two pieces that have US 40 use its old surface alignment through the eastern end of the KC Metro and where it goes through Booneville.   Then it used to be independent of limited access between Wentzville and the Daniel Boone Bridge until I-64 got completed, but still from Wentzville to Oakley is still a long haul though.
