If you want an answer involving two very different genres, The "Tom Tom Club" was basically a spin off / side project from "Talking Heads".

"Talking Heads" members Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz, and Jerry Harrison (IOW everybody except David Byrne) comprised the "Tom Tom Club".

Interestingly, years later when Byrne had no interest in continuing, the same three reformed as "The Heads" with a rotating group of "guest" lead singers, including Debbie Harry, Michael Hutchence, Johnette Napolitano, Gordon Gano, among others.

Temple of the Dog with a merging of Soundgarden and Pearl Jam

Pearl Jam didn't exist when Temple of the Dog was made. The record could be more accurately described as a collaboration between Soundgarden members and Mother Love Bone members.
