Taken about 90 minutes later, a second US 40 high plains play where, after running concurrently for a bit through town, US 40 and US 83 split in Oakley, Kansas.

Seems appropriate today, our family is headed to Tuscaloosa for the weekend. US 43 and US 83 meet up in the land of Roll Tide:

August 10: Post the junction of a US highway with a 5 for a tens digit, and a separate US highway with a 5 for a tens digit.
August 11: Post the junction of a US highway with a 5 for a tens digit, and a US highway with a 6 for a tens digit.
