NY 360

Did NY 360 get decommissioned?  I clinched it today, and while according to Google street view it's well signed, the only evidence of its existence I could find was one single reference marker on Church Rd.  All shields for it are gone, and it's obvious that the roads are now maintained by the town of Hamlin (though they also maintain NY 19 as far as I can tell, so that's not saying much).

Another random musing: NY 272, despite existing in both Monroe and Orleans counties simultaneously over its entire length, is considered by NYSDOT to be entirely in Orleans county.  The only evidence in the field of its dual county existence is the fact that all county and town line signs are on the left when heading north (with the exception of a stray Orleans county sign on NY 18).

360 was decommissioned in February officially. I have the memo to prove it from NYSDOT.

252A was decommissioned technically in 2009. The memo asks the DOT to change the touring route log for both changes. At least the 252A change has not been in made in the 2012 version.

Anyone know the signing status of 252A?  GMSV hasn't been there since 2007.  I'll remove it from the CHM project if it's no longer signed.  I've already submitted an update to remove NY 360.

Last I remember it was still signed, but I admit that I haven't paid much attention the last few times I've been through there.  I may have to add it to my first 2013 road trip (which is mostly in the US 20A corridor, but may go out west too).

NY 360 is still in the route log too; I'm curious if they'll remove it next year.  It looks like the town and county were very aggressive about removing signs, as the only evidence NY 360 was ever there is the jct signage for NY 19 and NY 272, that one lone reference marker, and the county sign "entering" Monroe county.  It makes sense that they'd be aggressive here; the existence of NY 360 never made any sense to me.

It seems to exist for historical reasons (it was originally part of NY 18 per Wikipedia).

NY 252A's signage is long gone. The memos I requested gave me both 252A and 360, which has 7-1-09 for 252A. Signage was disappearing around that time as well.

Thanks.  I've also submitted an update to remove 252A from CHM.

I'd be interested to learn if there are other changes to the NYS highways since the documents on which I based the CHM data (2009 NYSDOT touring routes list and traffic data reports) that I might not have heard about.

I wouldn't trust that log. The 2009 one and the 2012 ones are the exact same mostly for some RR changes, and the fact that they never fixed 252A in the 2012 one tells you something.

Monroe County has maintained 360 since 2007.

NYSDOT officially decommissioned 360 in February 2012. The memo explicitly states this.

I've seen said memo- it's legit. NY360 was decommissioned on February 9th.

I'm not so sure.  Remember, this is a state where the official numbering and the locations where a state maintains the road have little to do with each other.

Definitely maintenance. It seems that this is only necessary for the earliest state highways, which were not "acquired under §30 of the Highway Law".
