As someone who was once stationed at Pope AIR FORCE BASE...Pope AAF is a nad shot. I didn't exactly love the place while I was there, but Damn...

I see on I-40 sign creators copied IDOT format with Exit numbers lol!

This stretch is mixed with some using traditional tabs and some like this.
Every day is a winding road, you just got to get used to it.

I thought you might be interested to see a 360ยบ view of the drive on the newly-reopened US-321 between Hampton, TN and Boone, NC following damage from Hurricane Helene in September 2024:
(also available in more traditional 4k)

There were also some really great videos about the work recently by Road Guy Rob and Baker's Construction.

US 64 through Macon County in Western Nc is part of the 98 mile NC Waterfall Byway.  The specific section of 64 from Highlands through  the Cullasaja Gorge is home to many waterfalls including five that are pretty accessible from the highway itself.

While looking around different places on GSV, I see that there is a replaced mileage sign at the beginning of I-40 north of Wilmington.

I had not viewed that area in the last couple of years as the last time I viewed this area the mileage sign had Benson (🙄) and Raleigh only.  I wonder how long it will be before this sign is pilfered.
I don't need a GPS.  I AM the GPS! (for family and friends)

I miss the big fat lettering for the distance signs. This condensed typeface is ok, but it's a little less commanding than the awesome traditional font used.

Quote from: jcil4ever on September 13, 2025, 04:52:35 PMWas driving around along US-158 yesterday between Gates County and I-95 and saw that the new bypass of Garysburg and Weldon has opened. NCDOT has aspirations to widen all of 158 from 95 to Murfreesboro, but this is the only funded section.
...
I was back in the area, if you're curious about the progress of updating the signage for 158 and friends on 95. Spoiler alert: not much progress. None of the exit signs have been updated and I only saw one set of new supports installed north of Exit 173. More highlights in the video description:

As @Mapmikey pointed out, signage approaching NC-186 on 158 westbound is still flipped:

At least it's correct on the reassurance shields after the intersection:

I noticed several signs along the new roadway were missing their cardinal directions, so perhaps incorrect directions were a frequent issue for this project...

The BGS on I-95 have been updated to show the new routing of US-158.

I shot the new signage southbound on December 29th and posted the photos on the Interstate 95 South - Roanoke Rapids to Enfield page last week.
