White Object Markers

I say a white object marker in Bella Vista, AR today. I'm familiar with the yellow and red, but have never seen white. The street split at a curb to a right-turn lane and a straight-ahead lane with the object marker at the edge of the curb.  I didn't have my camera, so I was unable to get any photos of it.

Anyone have info on when they were first introduced?

Did the marker look newish?  I have encountered faded-out markers.  MUTCD doesn't have a white object marker.

Brand new, as in the last 2-3 months.  A street got widened to accommodate a new Casey's General Store.

White is meaningless, so go ahead and hit the curb.

Here's one (that's relatively new) in Vancouver, WA.

Sounds like someone tried to apply the rule for pavement markings that yellow separates opposite directions, white separates same direction, to object markers.

On another note, on US 441 in Orange Co, FL, I some of these that were 30x30 with the standard nine yellow reflectors.
