Here's a thread from 2013:

I detest exclamation marks in brands.

indeed.  the only thing worse is question marks in a brand, like "The Thing?" (Arizona tourist trap), and a brand of jeans which placed, oddly enough, a question mark after an imperative - but I believe they have gone away from it and now are simply "Guess", which is abstruse and postmodern-for-the-sake-of-being-postmodern* but otherwise not all that objectionable.

* is there any other sake? probably not

Guess? has existed since 1981.

I'm sure someone has posted this in this thread before, but the search button isn't finding it and I'm not going to click back through 28 pages looking for it:

I can think a ton of urban freeways that only can be driven at a snails pace.  The Kennedy Expressway also comes to mind for Chicago.

I mentioned that because someone once threw a motorcycle at my dad's car across the concrete median barrier and he ran into it. Or at least that's his story.

Southeast Expressway in Boston definitely qualifies.

I was in the back, so I didn't see the whole thing, but according to my dad a motorcycle came over the median barrier on either the Dan Ryan, Edens, or Kennedy (wasn't paying attention) and he ran into it before being able to stop. No one hit us from the back, though there were two more cars stopped behind us. I remember finally making it to the place we were spending the night, my grandparents' old house in Muskego, Wisconsin, at around 3 in the morning, not being allowed to see the damage to the front of the car, and two days later taking a Nissan Altima rental car home to South Dakota.

I like how at the second page of this thread, from 2013, this one is mentioned...

... and subsequently the Cubs won the World Series, albeit one year later than predicted by Back to the Future.

FWIW, when the Cubs finally won the Series, the BTTF Twitter account blamed the one-year delay on the 1994 strike that interrupted the space-time continuum.

I didn't mean likes, dislikes and shares like social media. I meant a simple like button like they have on the BeamNG forums. (It shows up when you're logged in, right next to the quote and reply buttons.)

I didn't mean likes, dislikes and shares like social media.

It's the exact same concept, though. Posting on the forum here should not be a popularity contest.

It wouldn't be. People like your post to save it somewhere on their personal profile (that only they can see, like saving posts on Reddit), and a like shows up on the post. Other than that, there is no gain. No karma points. It's basically like saving the post as a bookmark on your browser and letting the poster know that you did it. Likes would still be anonymous though.

As for a popularity contest, whatever post stays at or near the top of a forum section without being pinned there could be considered popular (e.g. the FritzOwl thread in Fictional Highways).
