I believe those signs are owned by the tree companies and are not official DOT signs.

Ramp to FL 23 South not yet opened, but instead of covering the sign up or not installing a panel, they added a ROAD CLOSED tab.

Oh, well that's just wacky, then.  I was thinking the green had faded in some weird way, but apparently they're not old signs at all.  I got nothin'.

Something I noticed about I-169 in Texas:

I-169 looks like it's only signed on the frontage road. Another.

But on the tollway, it's signed as TX 550 and TX 169

To me, it implies that I-169 is like I-180 in Cheyenne in that the interstate has traffic signals and at-grade intersections.

EDIT: The BGS on I-69E directs traffic to exit here for I-169, but takes you onto the frontage road as the 'free exit'.

That is really weird, but it wouldn't be completely unprecedented in Texas. I'm pretty sure Beltway 8 is only signed on the feeder road (when it exists) and not on the main lanes, which are signed as the Sam Houston Tollway:

In Dallas, the PGBT tollway and TX 161 are treated pretty similarly, with TX 161 consigned to the frontage road:

Gotta watch out for those Ohio street trains. They're so much more dangerous than the Indiana street trains the populace is used to.

Ah, good catch. You reminded me it's also signed on the free sections of the freeway (as well as the ship channel bridge, where there aren't feeders).

Ghetto but accurate and actually helpful Mile Marker usage on Camp 9 Road.  This is usually better than what one can expect on a PG&E owned roadway.

That looks like a paper plate on a stick, put there for the benefit of a mountain bike tournament or something.

It was actually a surfacing crew that put these up.  They are repaving Camp 9 Road and putting up actual mile markers as they go.  Considering how bad the road is presently I found the plates useful so I could remember blind spots on the way back up to Vallecito.

Correct.  The highway is signposted as the Sam Houston Tollway on the tolled portions, but signposted as Beltway 8 on the free portions.  I'm not aware of any place it's signed as both.

Quote from: hbelkins on August 18, 2025, 03:49:53 PMSo what rhyme do they use on other interstates?

"Try to stay alive as we fix I-75?"

"Traffic conditions will be poor on I-94"

I-69...hey, we make the jokes!

Slow down! Try not to get a fine on I-69.

Quote from: hbelkins on August 18, 2025, 03:49:53 PMSo what rhyme do they use on other interstates?

Have some fun on I eighty-one

Not quite Heaven on two-eighty-seven

The shields are blue on I twenty-two

A lot of hicks on seventy-six

Forty-one, renumbered forty-one

Traffic a-plenty on Interstate twenty

There's now a sign on one-sixty-nine

Related thread from ages ago:  https://www.aaroads.com/forum/index.php?topic=2636.0

According to the city, the road's actual name is "HWY 212", with businesses along it styling their address as "US-212 Business" or "Business 212" or some such.
