Interstate 5 San Diego area

I never really noticed this part of the I-5 to be so wiiiiide... 23 lanes...



Wasn't this project recently finished? Imagery is from feb. 2008.

I think that's the north I-805 interchange.

had totally forgotten about that one!  That sure is a lot of lanes... but you still cannot stay on I-5 southbound without changing lanes at least once.

It could also be at the Mexican Border...

hey now that's not a bad place to look for extra-wide lane sets.  that and tollbooths.

I count 24 lanes going northbound at the San Ysidro border crossing.  Is that the most lanes going in one direction to be found anywhere?  I'd guess it would be, due to a combination of a heavy traffic demand, and an unusually slow border-crossing process.
