You know she's not really a redhead, right?

Wendy or Deltalina? ...doesn't really matter, honestly.
Wendy. The actress who plays her is naturally blonde. (Strawberry blonde, but still...)

And damn, she's hot!  Strawberry blonde is a great hair color.  :bigass:

I guess we all need to go to Spatula City.

That was filmed a few miles from me.

I had to look this woman up, because the recent "Wendy" commercials I know feature the former Wendy Thomas, the 52-year-old daughter of Dave Thomas and the Wendy for whom the chain is named.  The descriptions here do not exactly apply to Wendy.

Having now seen the actress being discussed here, it makes me wonder if anyone believes someone can look like that and eat at Wendy's.  I guess it's fun to pretend.

Can't say as I have. When I said "the worst," I meant "the worst of the Luna ads." The worst ads I ever saw were the Joe Jacoby ads for Theatervision (cpzilliacus likely recalls those).

Only vaguely.

But the ones in the commercial have milligrams, not one ounce.

I think part of the strategy is that many U.S. television viewers do not immediately grasp just how tiny a milligram (or 13 milligrams) of gold really is.

Annoying commercials:

  • Gerber life insurance for newborn babies and toddlers;
  • "If you have a phone, you have a lawyer" for contingent-fee ambulance-chasing law firm Saiontz & Kirk Lawyers (based in Maryland, I think they do business in D.C., Virginia and Pennsylvania as well);
  • Commercials for the Michael Slocumb ("call on the hurtline") contingent-fee law firm featuring William Shatner, Captain Kirk (I think this outfit was started in Alabama, but they apparently figured out that ambulance-chasing in the Washington area might be more profitable);
  • All law firms trying to locate victims of asbestos-related injury and illnesses;
  • All auto and property insurance company commercials; and
  • All infomercials (regardless of what is being pitched).

- Insurance companies* in general -- especially GEICO and Progressive...Flo and the pig can't go off the air soon enough

A recent Progressive ad, which I saw earlier today, has Flo traveling back in time and getting herself in deep trouble. It ends with Flo about to be burned at the stake.

I doubt this marks the end of the Flo commercials, but one can dream.

As increasingly difficult as it is to do, I largely tend to ignore most commercials and other advertising.  Personally, I believe that we really need to reduce the amount of advertising that people are routinely exposed to.  Advertising is now largely a wasteful exercise that consumes time, money, and other resources that could go into things actually benefiting society as a whole, instead of lining the pockets of a few.

I don't have video cable service, so I don't ever see TV ads.
I mute all YouTube ads.

I have no idea what ones are popular.

Normally, I am not influenced by commercials on tv, but the ad for a cell phone company featuring Connie and Jack made me look into it further.  I found I was able to cut my cell phone bill in half.  I am glad I did not ignore that particular commercial.
Don’t ask me how I know.  Just understand that I do.

Anything GEICO
Anything with ugly flo
those stupid tablet commercial at Christmas
Any commercial that has Christmas Trees, Santa, and reindeer but are scared to death to say "Christmas"
Anything Truck Month (is that every month?)

elsmere241

Anything the news shows three times in one night (e.g. the Progresso commercial with the ugly bridesmaid dress)

When the Acura "Drive Like a Boss" ad with the girl singing along to "Rapture" who keeps singing after she answers the phone first came on the air I got a kick out of it. I am now tired of it and tired of getting "Rapture" stuck in my head every time we watch a hockey game (as said ad airs regularly during the broadcasts).

I've seen that one too. That one made me simile. I think you're right, it probably won't be the end of her, but it's nice to dream.  :biggrin:

There is currently a Chevy Colorado pickup commercial that I actually find offensive. It suggests that your are less of a man if you drive a car instead of a pickup.

I can't believe that they would stoop this low. Don't they also have a line of cars that need to be sold?

To me, not driving a pickup suggests that you have enough education that you do not have to do manual labor. So, to me, a car is a status symbol more than a pickup is.

Also, pickup drivers are way more rude and unsafe than drivers of other vehicle types, in my experience.

To me, this commercial is conveying a very "redneck" mentality.

I'm not hating on pickups, they are utilitarian and have a purpose. However, people that have one have no right to look down on those that don't.

It takes a lot to offend me, but this commercial really did. Chevy can go F itself.

And yet somehow, I've found myself married for nearly 10 years.  Amazing, right?

Matthew McConaughey, proudly thinking to himself the he was driving a Lincoln before it was cool to do so.  Funniest commercial to see with the sound off, because then it's just (still) dumb footage of him driving a car.

No match for soccer moms in SUVs at the mall parking lot.

I think I might prefer those ads to this (picture taken five minutes ago at Verizon Center):

The spoof commercials posted earlier on this thread remind me of this one for "Passages Malibu"

It's a real place, but every time that commercial comes on and I hear the part where the guy says "I should know, I was an addict for 10 years, now I'm not" I feel like I'm watching some spoof on a comedy show.

They, along with a lot of other people, drive way too fast in parking lots. The government really needs to create a set of default speed limits for parking lots that can be enforced.
