So, the question of the day is Are you working the US Independence Day?

I am... at both ends. Because my shift yesterday start at 10 PM and runs until 7 AM this morning, today is considered a "normal shift". Of course, I get holiday pay, plus I volunteered to work tonight from 9 PM-6 AM, and that is considered a holiday shift. And, tomorrow, 6 PM-3 AM.

So much for watching fireworks.

I worked from 2:40pm to 11pm. I was expecting it to be busy but it wasn't too bad, other than the fact that I was going through tons and tons of change (I think I handed out $56 worth of coins).

Not that I saw, but with the speed and volume of transactions that I have to conduct I am not really in a position to look at things like mint marks and dates. On the paper money side, just a HW-Bush-era $100, a 1995 $10, and a $1 that had gotten stained teal somehow and reliably caused the money counters to throw a "DOUBLE DETECTED" error.

I worked at IHOP from 4 to 3.  Meaning afternoon to next morning.  We got slammed after the firework rush was around heading home from the festivities.  For me that was overtime, when most have off that day.  Also hard work as I had no breaks even.

I'm in fast food (Eat Fresh!) and had a 10 am-2 pm shift. We weren't sure if it was going to be a busy day or a dead day - wound up very, very dead, even though the Kroger in the same shopping center was packed.
