Cascadia -- what would it look like?

Cascadia, the proposed new country in western North America, is a pipe dream, of course. But that doesn't stop me from always wondering "what if?"

If Cascadia were to split, what would you take from Canada and the United States? This can include;

- Road designs/transportation standards
- Government, military, and societal structure
- Energy policies?

Of course, this is meant to be fictional, so pulling other standards from other countries all around the world, or even coming up with your own ideas, is encouraged.

Ideally, I want to discuss which parts of the the British Columbia/Washington/Oregon/Idaho MUTCDs you would keep and which parts would be tossed.

Currency:

They would make their own currency. The designs on the coins have not been figured out yet.

1¢: Not made, due to production costs.
5¢, 10¢, 25¢: Looks the same as US and Canada's coins. Made of steel, to save on production costs.
50¢: Small and made of brass. Kind of like a $1 coin, but smaller.
$1: Like Canada's $1 coin.
$2: Like Canada's $2 coin.

Denver, which currently makes coins for the United States, will begin making coins for Cascadia (and will keep making US coins too). Vancouver will also start making coins for Cascadia.

Bills will be made in denominations of $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100. They will be made in Seattle.

If the United States and Canada decide to use the same currency (similar to how Europe does it), Cascadia will be included.

If the I-11 idea works, there will be a silver commemorative coin planned that is worth $11.

I'm glad you excluded the stupid 1 cent piece. The question then becomes "do we round up or down?"

What, "1", do you think the bills would look like? Would we feature any former Canadian Prime Minsters or US Presidents, as a nod to the past? Or would we have generic bills that represent geographic features of the area or other culturally-interesting items?

We could feature things like the Space Needle, a damn along the Columbia River, Mount Rainier, the Peace Arch, the Fairmont Empress Hotel (in Victoria), and so on.

Why not ditch the 5 cent piece too and just have the dollar divided up into ten dimes?

Presuming the currency would even be on par with the dollar, of course. You could peg the currency so that 1¢ in Cascadia is equal to 25¢ in the U.S.
