any ideas?

Beats me.  There's a shit-ton of roads like that throughout the Midwest.

A good solid amount of roads in the Midwest and Great Plains look like that.

Now I decide where I go...

It is in that region, but you got trouble if you can't pool together on this one.

Got no further than trying to figure out if that light between the blue smudge and road sign was a crescent moon (indicating perhaps you're driving eastward), but eventually decided it looked enough like the other reflections that it was probably also a reflection.

Personally, a contest is more fun when there's some sort of clue within the puzzle.  An everyday 2 lane road could be anywhere, and it's not worth the time to try to look around on Google to figure it out.

A sign or a bridge which design is more/less unique to a state helps.  Even "Midwest/Great plains" is still pretty much half the country.

It's along a famous highway, named after a president

Well, that narrows it to Iowa.

Could be US-30 in Iowa.

After Brandon's suggestion, I think I may have found it... or at least the general area. The scenery doesn't quite match up but... it looks pretty damn similar:

FYI, that was a rather boring adventure on Street View.

If I didn't know Steve doesn't usually get out this way, it could be California's central valley too.

The first clue says Iowa though.

I am ending this bit of fun. I am not going to risk getting fired for taking the photos. They've been cracking down on using electronic devices while driving. 1st one on that last post was Memphis TN, near I-240 on Democrat Road, and i-81 in WV.

This thread has been resurected. Now you have where's steve's car at. Friend borrowed my car to visit his dying mother in law, the thunderbird gets 25mpg, his surburban gets 13.

Just name the state with this one.

That's no fun -- makes it a one in 48 chance.  It's definitely at a rest area somewhere in the Continental US.  I'll say the westbound I-90 rest area near SR-306 in Mentor, OH.
