Some photos from a July 5th roadtrip through Washington and Greene Counties, PA.

Highlights include - two covered bridges, an old truss bridge, a National Road stone arch 'S' bridge, one room school house, and I finish up with a button copy treat from the Pittsburgh Department of Public Works.

Co-Blogger Bob Malme headed to Goldsboro on Friday to check out I-795.  Though he didn't see anything new on that route - he did find new exit numbers on US 264 and some worko n the US 70 Goldsboro Bypass.  Plus, an End I-73 North shield sent in by a reader.

No particular place to go

Yesterday, Brian LeBlanc and I took a brief road trip around the local area...specifically to the east of Raleigh.

Be sure to check out - the forgotten US 264A West shield, a rare I-95 NC shield, an old (maybe original) Mountain Dew logo/ad, and a rare Ruritan Community sign.  That and a lot more.

day 4 was a Hill Country Excursion - we checked out the LBJ Ranch National Historic Site and State Park, listened to some music in Luckenbach (though we didn't see Waylon or Willie), walked around and ate lunch in Fredericksburg, and finally hiked to the summit of Enchanted Rock.  Not a bad trip, I'd say.

Last of the Texas Vacation reports - San Antonio.  It was my first time in San Antonio and it was amazing.  The city's historical beauty and character and throw in the city's fun and entertaining side - certainly made for a great day.

Not all roadtrips are all-day, multi-state, freeway affairs.  Sometimes the best is a five hour trip in your backyard (or in this case your parents'.)

Photos from Pennsylvania's Laurel Highlands - includes two covered bridges, PA's highest point, Amish Buggies, the town of Perryopolis, and an old embossed stop sign.  Oh and a visit from Santa!

I see that stop sign in Perryopolis is showing more and more yellow as the years go by.  I saw that in 2006 and there was more red on it.

also, a rare example of Square Series A.

There were also similar signs years ago nearby in Glassport, PA.  I haven't had a chance to go back and take photos there.    On trips home to Western PA, I am trying to get photos a small town or two at a time.

Off topic from highways - but on topic for travel: A small feature I wrote on the blog showing what you can do on a cold wintry day in Pittsburgh.

2 years ago the parents came into town, and we took my Aunt & Uncle from Akron to Phipps while they had all the Chihully (sp?) glass sculptures throughout the place... I was rather impressed.

Sure, why not take a roadtrip... to Arizona.

This blog post mentions some roads, and some scenery as well, in and around the Phoenix area.  I'll be going up to Sedona today, likely very soon.
