I remember somebody mentioning there were new I-195 state-named shields around Providence?  That true and anyone know where?

I'm guessing the old state-named I-95 shields are long gone right?
I only take pics of good looking signs. Long live non-reflective button copy!

No old Rhodies in the wild that I know of, though the newer ones on my I-95 RI page could be kicking around.

There are some at Exit 27 (Downtown Pawtucket) on George St.  This is new signage that was erected during the Pawtucket River Bridge reconstruction project.  This was clearly the contractor's choice as it is not the norm in RI to have the state name in the Interstate shield.

Wonder if it was the contractor's choice or the designer's choice?

Rhode Island may be the smallest state in size in the union, they have 3 interstate freeways: 95, 195 and 295 serving the Providence metro area. Another tiny state, Delaware has only one interstate: the 95 in its north in Wilmington.

I looked at your link, alps. You know your freeways, their signage and your way around in Rhode Island. I like to travel to the east coast someday, esp. New York City and Washington DC.
Get your kicks...on Route 99! Like to turn 66 upside down. The other historic Main street of America.

lolwut, Wilmington has 95-295-495. The most you can say is that Delaware is not well served by Interstates. But Rhode Island also has decent-sized unserved cities (Newport, Woonsocket - the latter with more people inside city limits than Dover).

Ever heard of the Relief Route (a/k/a Delaware 1)?

And Woonsocket is connected to I-295 by both the RI-146 and RI-99 highways.

Newport is sort-of connected to the interstate system by RI-24 and RI-138 to US-1.

Yawn. The erroneous post I was responding to was about Interstates.
