I think this is the most absurd one I've ever seen

[post snipped]
I saw that one all over Facebook.  I don't get what the slang is supposed to even represent?

It represents older people who know some young people slang but don't actually understand it.

Whoever wrote that ought to call the person who does the VMS messages at ADOT, at least most people understand those references.  I'm guessing "totes"  probably means "totally"  (or storage containers) but I'm lost on what "yetes"  is supposed to me.

Dictionary.com (slang):
YEET! Yeet is an exclamation of excitement, approval, surprise, or all-around energy, often as issued when doing a dance move or throwing something.

From other usage I've seen, it seems to require relating to motion - throwing, jumping, flying off the ground, etc.

Reddit has a post that says, "But if you buckle, how do you yeet out of the car?"

So there are people who go around busting into surprise dances so they can throw things while screaming "YEET?"   So the VMS is suggesting teenagers scream "yeet"  while buckling up in the car?

Apparently this is a real thing.  I would have assumed someone had something wrong within them if I heard this in the general public:

So about that thread regarding not wanting kids...

I want to live in the reality where this is true.

Again, it's from Reddit.

EDIT: After reading the Reddit thread, I saw it's from Utah.  I went to the Utah traffic website, and sure enough, it's there.

I think this one takes the cake. You cannot get any worse than this.

Watch for a thread about it from bandit957.

Unless yet was a thing 30 years ago in his school I doubt he has any stories about it!)

I don't really want to put this in the "absurd"  category because I like the message, but this is the correct thread.

I-66 this morning. VDOT getting into the World Series spirit.

On Reddit a couple weeks ago, I saw this picture of the Ghostbusters VMS message that was mentioned earlier in the thread:

I didn't get a picture due to poor lighting and traffic, but on our way home tonight, a sign on the Beltway approaching I-95 said this (or something very close to this):

The one we saw didn't say anything about tailgating, and I'm sure if it had they would not have misspelled "you're"!
