Where Were Metric Speed Limits Posted in FL?

I remember seeing them on International Dr in Orlando in the early 90's. That is the only instance of which I am aware.

However, there is currently a metric speed limit sign with FDOT marking on it posted on ebay, which suggests that it was posted on a state road. It is dated 1985.

There used to be some posted along U.S. 41 in the Fort Myers area during the late 80's to early 90's. They were placed directly beneath the posted speed limit signs.

More recently (as of earlier this year) there are some posted along Treeline Avenue by Southwest Florida International Airport in Lee County, specifically around the intersection with Alico Road. Those are 80 km/h and are round, unlike the square ones posted during the 80's and 90's.

In 1981 they were everywhere on FDOT higways in the Jacksonville area.  There were some remaining in the early 1990s but all are gone now, perhaps on a road that was downgraded to County road or city street somewhere

This one was posted in 2011 or 2012.

I recall metric speed limit signs posted until the mid-1980s; most seemed to be near recent projects, such as widening or new road creation, and on the arterials alongside of it. They pretty much all came down around 1992-1993, although I recall a straggler until the mid-2000s or so.

I had no idea there were so many. I thought they just had them on International Dr just to make things interesting.

I remember seeing those in Volusia County and maybe some in Dade an Broward counties as well.  They were scattered about here and there.

Ah, that's why the metric system never caught on - you can go faster in the English system.

The ones posted along Ben Hill Griffin were posted by a professor at the nearby FGCU as he wanted the students who are coming from out of the country to be familiar with the metric/US speed limits.

I seem to remember them being on the Interstates as well back then, too.
