Unfortunately not to many of the retro signals remain in Pennsylvania, most of these old installations have either been retrofitted or replaced. The oldest I know are 1970s mast-arm installations consisting of 12-inch Eagle flatbacks, Crouse Hinds Type M and Rs, and occasionally a Econolite. 70% of these installations have been getting rapidly replaced for the past 18 years. If anyone can spot older 70s era installations reply with a picture

Here's a 12-inch 70s model Eagle:

Abandoned eagle flatbacks (EDIT: these were installed in 1973)

Here's an old photo in Philadelphia taken in 1977, that's why the signals here are new looking these are Eagle flatbacks, shocking how this photo is 38 years old:

Pennsylvania definitely has more than just those 70's era Eagle installs that you speak of. Some smaller towns, especially up in the Pocono's, have a decent amount of older equipment. Mahanoy City, for example, has a few 4-way signals still up in service...

Good find Ian, those are pretty ancient, but knowing PennDOT these have probably been replaced.

I also saw a 1960s-era post-mounted installation in Bristol but it got replaced in 2008. And I even saw a Eaglelux intersection in Cheltenham, but that got replaced in 2012. As of 2015, the oldest I can find were more 1970s-era mast-arm installations with 12-inch Eagle Flatbacks, some of which are still operating in parts of North Philly and the Huntingdon Valley, either that or older post-mounted installs in Philadelphia most consisting of 12" Eagle Mark IVs from the early-'90s. An honorable mention would be the retro clear-pole installations in Lower and Upper Merrion which has many CH Type Rs, ICCs, Even an occasional Generation 1 Durasig, or rarely an Alusig.

I wouldn't necessarily say so. PennDOT doesn't do their own signal work, while the local towns and cities do, even on PennDOT roads. They, as well as many other older installs across the state, might still be there, but I can't be 100% certain, since I haven't been up that way in several years. I'm happy that they retrofitted them with LED's, since now they might get a few more years of service out of those old 4-ways.
