Has anybody out there that collects counties found any car GPS that show county lines OR some downloads that overlays county lines onto the GPS?   When I googled it, I saw there was one out there from 2008, but I'm a little hesitant to download and use because, well, its from 2008.

Just wondering if anyone out there had any luck, since I'm not the best with technology.   Figured I might be missing something everyone knew (I was late to the game to realize mapquest showed counties... so Lord know what else I'm missing LOL)

I don't know the answer to your question. But if you have something from 2008, almost all the county lines should still be accurate, though roads will have changed in the meantime. Most county changes since the early 2000s have been in Alaska. The only boundary change elsewhere was the 2013 merger of Bedford independent city in Virginia into surrounding Bedford County.

See https://www.census.gov/geo/reference/county-changes.html for more detail.

If you have an iPhone or an iPad, you can buy the CoPilot GPS app from the App Store. It has county lines marked and I have used it often to let me know when I've entered a new county on back roads where the county line may not be signed.
Government would be tolerable if not for politicians and bureaucrats.
