Spotted this one in person, but due to time I was unable to get a good photo. 3 of the 4 vertical signal heads have totally square aspects (the fourth appears to have been replaced). The horizontal signals appear to be standard eastern Canada fare, but the vertical ones I've only seen at this intersection in Summerside, PEI

Are you talking about signals like this one?

If so, then they appear to be Kentron, T-con, or Econolite signals (can't really tell unless you get a good look at the logo on the back) that appear to use square lenses instead of the standard round lenses.
It's all fun & games until someone summons Cthulhu and brings about the end of the world.

I also collect traffic lights, road signs, fans, and railroad crossing equipment.

I don't like Eastern Canada's traffic signals at all, especially the one in Quebec outside of QC City and Montreal.

Wow, those are wacky!  I want one!

I think those traffic signals are designed to help color blind people with the different shapes.
