Quote from: 7/8 on February 13, 2025, 11:36:10 AMCurrently -7C (20F) and overcast. We got a lot of snow last night, I'm guessing 20-30cm (8-12") (unfortunately I can't find a measurement online). I'm starting to run out of room to put snow beside my driveway!

AccuWeather's Wintercast™ page has a Past 24 Hour Snowfall Map that I've found to be pretty accurate, and that shows just about 7 inches for your area: https://www.accuweather.com/en/ca/kitchener/n2g/winter-weather-forecast/49564

Even so, I trust my own measurements more than anything posted online  :)

Woke up to 0°. High of 35° but then I'm flying to Sacramento this evening where it should be cool and rainy.

I guess it felt like more since I was stuck shovelling on my own while my brother slept in. :-D

One nice thing about living in an apartment is I don't have to shovel when it snows.

Plus, since where I work is on the university campus, I was told to work from home yesterday, so I didn't even have to go out in the snow at all.

FWIW, the Apple Weather app yesterday said the snowfall in Kitchener was 31 cm. I don't know which is more accurate. The same app is predicting 10 cm on Saturday and 25-30 cm on Sunday...

Too damn cold and too damn much snow. Michigan is one of the worst places to be in the winter.

A bizarre three-part storm this weekend added about 6 inches to our snow totals.

First was a shield of snow moving in ahead of the storm on Saturday. We got about 2 inches of snow between noon and 6PM Saturday. Then in the early hours of Sunday, light snow switched to steady freezing rain as cold air battled warm, leading to a thick coating of ice (probably the most significant "ice storm" I have experienced personally that I can remember). That ended around mid morning. Then around noon, heavy snow moved in, adding a quick inch or so, and intermittent light to moderate snow continued through the afternoon and evening.

The Rochester area ended up being the pivot point for this storm, as areas north and west got heavy snow, while areas south and east got mostly rain (at least until the later parts of the storm), leading to a sharp gradation in snow totals.

And of course, this storm moving through set off the lake effect snow machine which is expected to continue through midweek, with heavy snow continuing to pile up this morning (with the heaviest snow north of the city) amidst a high wind warning.

After seeing highs approach triple-digits last week, the roller coaster takes one more steep plunge downward; the same cold blast that all of you are seeing is headed our way.  Highs the next few days will fall 25-30 degrees below normal for mid-February.  Victoria and Bee counties in particular will dip below freezing by sunrise Thursday.

Currently, it's 14℉ outside. Because of the light rain yesterday, the streets look like skating rinks. Good thing I went shopping on Sunday.

And, it is snowing lightly outside.

I didn't check the actual temperature when I left for work this morning, but it had been forecast to be –6°F.  It's currently 10°F and sunny.

The forecast high for Monday, on the other hand, is 63°F.

Similar story here. Got down to 8° overnight last night. Supposed to get 4-6" of snow tonight. Then High of 62° on Sunday.
