Alabama stimulus highway project list
« on: March 17, 2009, 05:47:57 PM »

Found ALDOT's stimulus project list.  Virtually the entire thing is resurfacing or safety improvement projects, though there were 3 projects of note:

- A new interchange on US 231/431 at Sparkman Dr (US 72 East) in Huntsville.

- Additional lanes on I-20, roughly between MP 148 and MP 155 (west of Pell City)

- Construction (possibly completion?) of the Anniston East Bypass.  Once the full bypass is completed, it will connect Golden Springs Rd with the existing US 431/AL 21 North junction.  I'd looked this project up previously and per the Anniston newspaper, it will become part of a rerouted US 431 once completed.  The Anniston paper also had a poll going for what to name the new road upon completion.

That may help with Talladega race traffic.  Exit 168 is the exit for traffic coming from the west.  i.e. Birmingham
