I believe KY-2704 was decommissioned decades ago.

There's a BI-2704 in Spain.  However, as I've mentioned, the thread is already over as far as I'm concerned, so I'm not about to hunt down a non-GSV picture of it.

I will have the honor of posting it then.

Looks like Farm to Market 2715 was cancelled so we have to find another route.

Is this as far as we can get? 2714? Have I finally gotten an answer on our maximum after like 5 years?

AFAIK there's no signed highway numbered 2715 in the United States. 1928 and 2704 don't exist either but I guess we got those a while back. 2894 and 2927 also don't exist.

There may be an odd county road numbered 2715 somewhere, although I did check Johnson County, Arkansas and 2715 doesn't exist despite 2714 and 2716 existing. I don't think it exists in Madison County, Arkansas either.

EDIT: I believe 3542 is the first number that NEVER had a state maintained highway assigned to it. 1928, 2704, 2715, 2894, 2927, 3487 and 3493 all existed at one point but are all decommissioned now.

... Not to mention that North Carolina SSRs exist... surely there's a 2715 in there somewhere, although we'd need someone from NC to get a picture of it most likely (quite often they'll show up as four very small numbers located below a stop sign at an intersection or located in a street blade by mentioning something like "SR 2715" or something similar, I'll provide an example below this sentence).

(via Google Street View)

I have the NCDOT Roads Shapefile downloaded (despite it almost crashing QGIS every time I load it there...), I can look and see if there's any 2715's in there.

I'm going to go ahead and say:

GAME OVER!
High score: 2714!
Congratulations!

Well, it's been over 9 months.  I think I'm going to call it, and say that our work is done.  Congratulations on everyone getting all the way up to 2714, over the course of 5 years!  I'm thinking about restarting this thread over at 1, with the challenge being that we cannot use the same route that was used in the first sequence of photos.  Before I make that official, though, I will work on making a master list of the route used the first time around, so people don't have to dig in search for which route was used the first time for a given number.  Give me a week to do that--in the meantime, use this space to voice opinions on what I should do to start the challenge over, or if I should even do it at all. Stay tuned!

IT'S BACK!!

WE'RE STARTING OVER!
(wait, this again?)
It's the sixth anniversary of starting this thread back in 2016, and in observance to that occasion, I want to bring back the 1-2-3 Road Sign Challenge.  The rules will be the same as in the first iteration, except with one caveat: the route posted for a given number cannot be the same as in the first run-through of the game.  For example, because Arkansas Route 1 was played in the first iteration of the challenge, Arkansas Route 1 can't be used in the new, second iteration that begins today.  As established initially before things got tough, participants must wait 10 numbers before posting again.  I won't be keeping a "score" of who gets the most posts in, as a person's post frequency is largely based on how much time they have to 1) find route sign photos or 2) fart around in this thread.  Eventually, we will see how far down the number line we can get, finding at least two distinct marked routes with that number.

As always, see the first post back on page 1 for the overall rules.  Please write text above your photo to identify which route you are playing, as some photos will contain markers for multiple routes, and poster's intent isn't always immediately obvious.

Here's my submission for Route 1 to kick things off.  It's New Brunswick Highway 1, taken at Petitcodiac, NB.
The next person posts a single photo showing a single route 2, that ISN'T Alberta Highway 2, which was used in our first count upward to 2714.

It's also helpful because, if someone wants to re-use a sign for a different number, then it makes it easier to figure out which number it was already used for.

High score: 2714!

meh.

You know my opinion:  the challenge ended almost a year ago, and 2693 was the final play.  After all, |formulanone| just posted a few GSV links to NC SSR-2715, so there's hardly a compelling reason to say 2714 was the high score.
