I think I'm good to go again here now.  Here's the Palisades Interstate Parkway, this at its northern terminus.

Photos I post are my own unless otherwise noted.

Which I've just now noticed is designed by placing a leaf of NJ's state tree (red oak) over that of NY (sugar maple).

(Although NY's looks more like a red maple...)

New York's now look horrendous with the oversized mixed-case type.  This design was elegant (and still is, in New Jersey).

Southern Adirondack Trail. Diamond represents the "Herkimer Diamonds" found in the region.

Florida's Turnpike shield -- usually the words do not use mixed-caps:

Subtle variations on this sign include no line denoting the route, inverted colors, ALL CAPS, and other assorted one-off-weirdness...

I'm surprised that the NY Thruway hasn't been posted yet!

When NYSDOT replaced the signs along the Arterial in Auburn in the summer of 2013, I went out and took pictures of the old signs before they were removed.  Unfortunately, about 5 minutes after I moved the pictures to my external hard drive, the drive died (Seagate drives used to be good, but now they're crap!).  I was able to undelete some of the pictures from my camera's SD card, and this was one of them.  I took a picture of the instillation date sticker on the back, but that image is corrupt.  I was able to at least see the thumbnail in the EXIF data, and kind of make out the date.  It looks like the installation date was 8/8/1991.

Here's an old Street View image of the sign.

To Oregon, where I have two in one.  I'll say this one counts for the Historic Columbia River Highway.

Mildly surprised this one hasn't been posted yet:

This is cu2010, reminding you, help control the ugly sign population, don't have your shields spayed or neutered.

Trailblazer for the Red Ball Route in Ainsworth, IA. This route was the predecessor to the Avenue of the Saints.

And I'm mildly surprised by how that shield looks. That's not the Seaway Trail marker I'm familiar with!

Am I missing it, or has no one posted the Great River Road yet?

This is the only style of marker I've ever seen for the Seaway Trail:

The new Great Lakes Seaway Trail shield was introduced a few years ago. R7 aggressively replaced virtually all of them last fall. Very few of the old ones remain, sadly.

R5 replaced most of theirs within the past 2-3 years as well. Few, if any, of the old ones remain.

Here's a two-for-one. The Green River Parkway marker and the first-generation William H. Natcher Parkway sign that replaced it.

Another double, this one I'll submit as Fundy Drive, since that's the one we drove most of on our Maine-New Brunswick trip a couple summers ago.
