Disgraceful that a US route terminus is signed with such ugly shields like that. :banghead:

Why is the city of Miami responsible for those signs? Shouldn't that be on the state DOT? Also totally just now noticed the almost completely obscured signal head on the mast arm, behind the tree.

Standards in regards to signage can at times vary wildly in Florida by county.  Some of them even have the hidden State Road numbers signed alongside US Routes.

Most regulatory and warning signage is consistent, as well as road design and safety...but things like route signs, guide signs, and street blades/signs are a mixed bag. I tend to think each county or city creates or contracts out that type of signage, and there's also several FDOT districts, so some practices are a bit little different than the next.

A peek at the shield gallery for Florida reveals there's a lot of different interpretations on all of the route shields...

Do unsigned designations of parkways count?  If so, then there's NJ 444, NJ 445, and NJ 446 that I can post.

4. The number on the sign that is photographed must be shown on a route symbol.  Signs with third-person textual mentions of routes are not allowed.
