QuoteAugust 29th Challenge ---> Post pictures of roads that are undergoing pavement milling, which is the scraping out of pavement on the surface, which is usually used for reasons such as (but this challenge is not limited to) a resurfacing or other construction projects:

My first contribution is from September 2014, when they resurfaced Georgia Highway 52 (W. Walnut Ave.) from Interstate 75 to the Glenwood Ave./Abutment Rd. intersection in eastern downtown Dalton. This picture is looking west on GA SR 52 very close to I-75's Exit 333:

My second contribution is from off of Interstate 20 Eastbound in South Carolina (but in the Augusta, Georgia area) passing under the I-520 interchange (Exit 6), where they have presumably been doing a resurfacing job as of this past June:

My third contribution is from off of Tennessee Highway 153 Northbound in the Hixson area of Chattanooga, very close to its interactions with Tennessee Highway 319, where they are also presumably doing a resurfacing job. This was taken about exactly a month ago:

*IT IS ALSO WORTH NOTING THAT FOR NOW I AM STILL INCAPACITATED AT UPLOADING RAW PHOTOS FROM MY OWN PHONE DUE TO STORAGE AND OVERLOAD ISSUES, SO THESE ARE CRAPPY SCREENSHOTS OF MY PICTURES THAT ARE TAKEN ON MY BROTHER'S PHONE. I HIGHLY APOLOGIZE FOR THE HIDEOUS QUALITY FOR THE TIME BEING.*

:colorful: :colorful: :colorful: Once again, it's recap time! :colorful: :colorful: :colorful:

You know the drill: this serves as the August 29th Challenge, and additional Challenges will be posted on the 30th and 31st. All Challenges since the previous recap are now open until the end of this month.

Note that the July 30th Challenge isn't a recap–it's still open from when it was posted originally. Also, it doesn't appear that anything was posted for July 31st, so that's also open. (If anyone posts either of those Challenges, it will remain open throughout the recap period, rather than being closed immediately as would normally happen.)

Quote
July 30: Any challenge done on the 30th of any month [still open]
July 31: [open]

August 2: Anything else road-related where the focus of the photo just barely fits in the shot
August 3: Traffic signal arrow aspects other than left, right or straight through
August 4: A road photo taken at sunset or sunrise
August 5: Non-existent places, whether serious or not
August 6: Highways running beside water
August 7: Two routes with the same signed cardinal direction, but going in two opposite directions

August 11: Two routes that end at the same point, coming from different directions
August 12: Signs directing to a United States state's capitol building or campus [ongoing]
August 13: Your own road photos taken in August 2017 that have not yet been uploaded to this forum
August 14: Farthest distance sign you have to a destination you currently or previously lived in
August 15: Exit only tabs that are erroneous, appearing over lanes that aren't exclusive to exiting traffic

So does this mean the 8/29 challenge posted right at midnight EDT is not valid?  Also, is the Mississippi Bridges challenge going to be ongoing until we hit them all?

Meanwhile, I'll fill one I missed earlier.

Eh, it's not invalid, but normally the recap does serve as that day's Challenge, and I got it up as close to midnight as possible. I just can't compete with somebody who slides one in at 26 seconds past twelve. ;-) So, we'll kind of just look the other way on that. If someone posts an Answer to that Challenge, it won't be seen as any kind of transgression (but it won't be included in the next recap, for example).

QuoteAlso, is the Mississippi Bridges challenge going to be ongoing until we hit them all?

That motion was made, but never seconded, as it were. I brought up a few considerations about it, but the discussion never progressed past that. So as far as I can see, no, it was never decided to make that one ongoing, at least in this thread.

I'm already ready, and have been since the OP. That's why I included the three-Answer limit, to prohibit mega posts. :-) Which three do you want to keep for your submission? (You can always make additional posts with more Answers.)

Cool. Yeah, you get three full days to do the recap, so you should have plenty of time to get a lot of photos in. And don't forget, there are several dates available with no Challenge posted yet, so you can always use those to post a one-off.

Years ago right lane used to be striped as an exit only but now the right lane you have an option to go left on I-684 or right onto Westchester Ave.  So the "EXIT ONLY" panels are technically incorrect.

I am deeply sorry for posting a challenge on a day that was not eligible. I am quite knowledgeable about this thread, so usually I expect and see the days that are devoted to revisiting prior challenges within the month (that exist at the end of each month). However, for some reason, I completely forgot about it this time and paid absolutely no attention to what day it was when I attempted to post this challenge.  :banghead:  :-D

Also, I suppose that whenever I post challenges, I tend to try to start collecting my thoughts and pictures and begin constructing my response early on, and then finally press the post button right around 12:00 on the dot (in my time zone) for that day.  :)

Once again, I apologize for this mistake, because usually I am highly aware of those days that serve solely as make-up challenges. This time the monthly tradition completely slipped past my mind.  :ded:

Nothing to worry about. There's no actual rule that establishes the recap or what days it is, just the precedent of what I've always ended up doing. (It's the last three days of the month, if anyone hadn't caught on.) The first time I did the recap, someone else got a Challenge in while I was typing my post, so I let it stand. A couple of other times, people have posted Challenges on top of the recap, so those just became superfluous (and got plenty of Answers of their own, regardless). Then this time, like yourself, I started writing up the list the day before, and actually sent the post as soon as I got around to it after midnight. I figured I was respectably quick on the trigger, but you were quicker, so I kind of just pretended like nothing happened. ;-)

But hey–today's now the 30th, and not only is there a Challenge due for today, we also have an open Challenge for the 30th of any month. Maybe we can kill a couple of birds simultaneously here. :-D
