I take pictures of road signs, that's about it.

General rule of thumb: Just stay in the "Traffic Control" section of the forum and you'll be fine.

Today is the Ides of March. In Julius Caesar, even after the day begins, there is the warning that the day is not over yet (obviously paraphrased). So the challenge today is:

QuoteMarch 15, 2018: Restrictions or warnings that are reminders; there was a sign warning of the same thing farther back, and the restriction/warning is for the entire stretch of road (e.g. "next 2 miles", not "in 2 miles").

For example, "10% grade next 2 miles" when there was a "10% grade next 4 miles" sign farther back. Exclude speed limit signs (since they're so common) unless there's a distance component like "speed limit 30 next 3 miles".

Probably lots in my collection, but this one from Ponce, Puerto Rico is the one that first comes to mind (assuming the multiple chains in the photo don't disqualify):

Yes, I know today is St. Patrick's day. However, St. Patrick's Day occurs once per year, and we did a St. Patrick's Day challenge in 2017. A 16 seed beating a 1 seed in March Madness is the first ever, so that is what this challenge will be based on.

QuoteMarch 17, 2018: Two numbers adding up to 17, where the higher number is better than the lower number on the "worst of road signs" to "best of road signs" scale.

"Better" is subjective, but use your best judgment. Note that this is NOT the "how important is this route" scale.

This is supposed to represent the higher number (i.e. underdog) beating the lower number (i.e. favorite). They add up to 17 as that is how Round 1 of March Madness works (today being the 17th is just a coincidence).

Numbers do not have to be route numbers. However, they must be numbers, not just digits.

EDIT: I have an example.

Alpsroads. His description: "When shields in Vermont get really, really old, the black parts turn white (5 shield) and the white parts turn black (12 shield)." Both shields are in best-of territory, but the VT 12 shield is more worthy than the US 5 shield.

To clarify, the sign with the higher number is supposed to be of better quality than the sign with the lower number, correct?

Oddly, my contribution is also from Vermont!  The US2 sign has considerably more cracks in it, so I'd consider it to be of less quality than the VT-15 shield.
