This is from off of US Highway 17 Northbound on the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge (2005) in Charleston, South Carolina (picture taken in June of 2017):

(This is an absolutely beautiful cable-stayed bridge, and it is actually one of my favorite bridges of all-time.)

Meh, I personally prefer the two bridges that stood before the Ravenel Bridge. I'm not shitting on the Ravenel Bridge (I personally think it looks nice), but if ya gave me a choice between the Ravenel Bridge or the two older bridges, I'd choose the latter. Truss bridges (especially cantilever trusses) are glorious.
I am inactive for a while now my dudes. Good associating with y'all.

US Highways: 36, 49, 61, 412.

Interstates: 22, 24, 44, 55, 57, 59, 72, 74 (West).

The older two bridges really were beautiful. Unfortunately, due to their age, they were just very dangerous and structurally deficient, and they needed to be replaced as a result at all costs, due to safety reasons. However, I find those to be incredibly interesting and beautiful as well. At least they will remain in our memory visually, because they sure indeed were glorious in looks!!

I have quite a number of pictures of those emergency Interstate detours that Iowa posts, and I'll use this as my submission example because there's two of them, including one with an impressive stack of four tabs. Oh, and US-151 ends here, too.

QuoteMay 3, 2018: A destination can be reached by following the route, but it isn't the fastest way.

My own photo. Haverhill, MA. NH 125 goes to Rochester, NH (this sign is on MA 125, about 1000 feet from the New Hampshire border). While it is the most direct way, it is not the fastest; turning around and taking I-495, I-95, and NH 16 is slightly faster. NH 125, however, does avoid tolls. Maybe Massachusetts doesn't want New Hampshire to get toll money?

Google Street View. Lowell, MA. I-495 is a much better way to get to Haverhill than MA 110. Best option is to turn around and get on the Lowell Connector, which leads to I-495.

Google Street View. Lowell, MA. While getting to Boston from this rotary is best done by taking that exit, it is nothing like what the sign implies. You'll only be on MA 38 for about half a mile before getting onto MA 133 and then to I-93. Nobody would take MA 38 for any significant length to go to Boston as the sign implies. Maybe two and a half miles (MA 38 to I-495 to I-93), but that's it.

This is at Beck St (US-89) and Victory Rd (UT-186) north of Salt Lake City. The fastest way to the University of Utah from here is actually to turn left and follow UT-186 to South Temple, then head east.

This sign on I-80 eastbound directs traffic heading to the University of Utah to use 1300 East. While that is the most direct route, it’s certainly not the fastest, especially if you’re driving anytime close to rush hour. The faster way is to continue a few more miles on I-80 and take Foothill north.

This is a shitpost of a response, but you can CLEARLY just ramp over the roundabout to make a left turn onto 641 south if you wanted to  :D

On a more serious note, nobody in this town (Petersburg, IN) is gonna take IN-57 to Evansville now that I-69 runs parallel to it.

May 5th Challenge ---> Post pictures showing where something road-related can be seen in the form of a shadow:

I actually got the idea for this challenge when on GMSV (Google Maps Street-View) during the monthly challenge recap a few days ago (for this thread).

Here, straight from the very street-view I saw (picture taken of the computer screen showing it by my phone), is a view of the shadow of the Bixby Creek Bridge (California Highway 1) on the mountains directly to the east of the bridge:

I have one along the same lines but not as good of a view of the shadow as in the one posted for the challenge.  This is taken on the Rio Grande Gorge bridge on US 64 near Taos, New Mexico, on January 26, 2008.

Challenge for May 7th: A picture of at least 2 highway shields, where one is divisible by the other. (Excluding 1)

As a side challenge, I wonder what the highest answer will be...

Here are a few examples that I have.

630 / 10 = 63

And 430 / 5 = 86.

I take pictures of road signs, that's about it.

General rule of thumb: Just stay in the "Traffic Control" section of the forum and you'll be fine.

QuoteMay 11, 2018: Signs with an animal in words (picture only isn't enough), referring to the animal itself.

"Referring to the animal itself" means that the sign must be about the actual animal. For example, a sign pointing to Beaver, PA, a street called Rabbit Rd., or a "bear left" sign does not count.
