Here's a slightly unusual advance speed limit sign for the 45 MPH section on I-35E in Saint Paul. May 26, 2018.

These variable speed limit signs, which normally read 65, are triggered based on traffic volume, dropping to 55, then 45, then finally 35. As with all freeway speed limit signs in Atlanta, they are universally ignored.

It's supposed to smooth out the flow of traffic instead of everything suddenly coming to a stop from 70. It's a system some of our freeways have had for the last 15 years and is being rolled out across the country.

Here's my entry for today's challenge. A 45mph limit on I-35 in KC. The 80 degree temperature on the advertisement to the left of the speed limit sign is wishful thinking at the moment.

From Saturday's ped walk-through for the new SR-99 tunnel in Seattle.  Luckily these signs went up just after they announced the change from Safeco Field to T-Mobile.  All three signs had a 2018 date on the back, but in-person the middle sign seemed to be a different shade of green.

There also are signs on northbound I-395 pointing you to Verizon Center, which was renamed Capital One Arena ca. 2017, but I think the signs have not yet been updated. I don't have pix of any of those signs.

My Yankee Stadium above qualifies.  That's the old stadium that's now gone.

And I can go back to one of my oldest photos of a sign, for Candlestick Park with the stadium itself in the background.  Taken on US 101.  August 18, 1985.

And how about the now-demolished Tappan Zee Bridge?  January 22, 2004.
