But yeah no MN-93 pls, it's a trap.

It's probably fortunate then that I can't post twice in a row. I do have pictures of MN-93. :bigass:

Maybe not a trap and it's not the same state :-D

Unfortunately, Alaska's out...

Wow, you don't say?   :hmmm:   :hmmm:   :hmmm:

I have a Michigan 95, but that doesn't quite border IL.  WI and MO should work though.

Reply #28 says Alaska is considered to be adjacent to Washington and Hawaii for the purposes of this game.. We can't get to Alaska in 4 steps anymore (98 was the only possibility), so it's out.

Also, see the argument on Page 4 about whether Illinois to Michigan is allowed (it's a water border).

Let's head into Iowa again.

This picture makes it pretty clear that yes, I do get out of the car to take sign photos.  I want one good shot of every individual state route.

As do I, except (usually) for freeway signage (for the obvious safety and legal reasons :)). I really dislike pictures taken in the car.

Edit to add: I too have photographed that same Iowa 96/US-63 sign. For some reason I'm fascinated when more than one of us have taken almost the same picture.

Photos must be from your personal collection. No Google Street View, DOT photologs, etc. The exception is that if we get stuck for 24 hours, you may post a photo from another roadgeek's website, Facebook page, Flickr collection, and so on.

Shouldn't this have stopped at 92?
Hurricane Rex is pulling photos from elsewhere on the web mere hours after the preceding play.

Assumed the rule was the same for each challenge. Generally only gsv isn't allowed.

You can pull from elsewhere, but you have to wait 24 hours to give someone a real chance.

The idea is to use sources other than GSV or the like. Use your own personal collection or someone else's personal collection, not a commercial or similar source.

Before I proceed...Do rustic roads in Wisconsin count for this challenge?

Here's a retroactive IA-98.  WI-100 was played last.  I have an IL-101 if someone wishes to farm it from my collection

Here's a new challenge game that I thought of. Let's see how far we can go with it. Due to the nature of the game, photos from Alaska and Hawaii will have to be omitted, but that's OK.

The general premise is that a photo of a state route marker will be posted. The next poster will then post a photo of a state route marker of the next highest number from a state adjoining the location of the previous post. You should identify the state, since someone who posts a photo from Tennessee could be followed up by someone playing a circular route marker from either of two neighbors (Kentucky or Mississippi).

Photos must be from your personal collection. No Google Street View, DOT photologs, etc. The exception is that if we get stuck for 24 hours, you may post a photo from another roadgeek's website, Facebook page, Flickr collection, and so on.

Preference is for ground-mounted markers. BGS route markers are discouraged but allowable in dire circumstances.

I'll start with KY 1.

Next poster must play a State Route 2 sign from either Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee, Missouri, Illinois or Indiana.

Have fun. Let's see how far we can get with this and how many states we can get in play; I'm thinking somewhere well into the triple digits until we run out of options.

I was thinking mostly of state primary route markers, but I realize that Tennessee provides a special difficulty here since their numbered roads can switch from rectangular signage with the state name and outline on the bottom, to a triangle, and back to the rectangle. So I will say that while primary routes are preferred, secondary routes for the states that have them (Virginia circles, West Virginia circles, Tennessee triangles, etc.) will be acceptable.

As for Wisconsin's Rustic Roads, I don't know that I have ever seen a marker with a route number on it. Just a supplemental sign similar to the Kentucky Scenic Byway, Virginia Byway, West Virginia Byway/Backway, or similar.

Next play would be 101 from any of Iowa's neighbors.
Government would be tolerable if not for politicians and bureaucrats.

Believe you mean Wisconsin, but it ends up all the same here. ;-)

So because I have the opportunity, and Minnesota's TH 101 is one of my favorite routes just for its odd history, I have to play it:

paulthemapguy

So this is the Wisconsin sign I wanted to post, if it's okay.

^^ If that sign isn't allowed, then there's something fundamentally wrong with the universe.  That's an awesome picture.

I could take us back to WI but let's go to IN this time.  I could probably bounce around IL/IN until the 130's.  I have an OH-105 too
