Street Sign Name Game

I took one photo today to get the game rolling again. Eastman Drive to Noecker Street (in Waterloo, ON)

I had second thoughts about whether Ala Kinoiki should be treated as an A___ rather than a K___, so I subbed in another K___i without that issue, that keeps jbnv's play of Independence valid.

Anyway,  to follow with a photo I took of one of many numbered west-east streets I crossed on today's breakfast run.

Independence => North Eighth Rd. (Arlington VA)):

Homer Watson Blvd. => Nottingham Dr. (Falls Church VA -- this does not connect, nor is otherwise related, to the North Nottingham St. in neighboring Arlington that I previously played):

I had second thoughts about whether Ala Kinoiki should be treated as an A___ rather than a K___, so I subbed in another K___i without that issue, that keeps jbnv's play of Independence valid.

I noticed that there wasn't a street type designation and assumed that "ala" was a Hawaiian word for a type of road. If that is true, then it plays from K ("Kinoiki"). If not, it plays from A.

I noticed that there wasn't a street type designation and assumed that "ala" was a Hawaiian word for a type of road. If that is true, then it plays from K ("Kinoiki"). If not, it plays from A.

"Ala" is indeed Hawaiian for a road, street, etc., so "Ala Kinoiki" translates to "Kinoiki St." (the Hawaiian Dictionary doesn't say what "Kinoiki" means). At some point I'll play Ala Kinoiki as a K, if and when my ample supply of other Ks dwindles. But what threw me is that there are Hawaii roads with both "Ala" and an English-language road type designation added by someone who didn't completely understand Hawaiian. For example, Ala Moana Boulevard in Honolulu, which per the Hawaiian Dictionary means literally "ocean street boulevard". Fortunately, neither that nor any other "Ala ___" road are in my photo inventory.
