Here's one of several unusual signs, from an earlier trip to Nevada. Parts of US 95 near Hawthorne (also also south of Boulder City) were chopped up into quarter-mile segments, each dedicated to veterans of different wars, starting with World War I and ending with the Global War on Terror, so that no possibly living war veteran would feel left out. (I guess by then the last surviving Spanish-American War veteran had passed away.)

Wakonda View Dr. => Highway segment dedicated to World War I Veterans (Hawthorne NV):

When I took this, I intended to play this as an E___, but alas there's also a West Club Blvd. in Durham, so I'm treating "East" as a directional.

With apologies for poor photo quality...

I used this before for Ridley and Oscar played from Summer Ridge, but the rules say I can use it for Summer Ridge Road because that hasn't been played as a photo yet. (Kingstowne, Virginia)

This is the Utah equivalent of S. 80th St., with the zero point being Temple Square in adjacent Salt Lake City (not the capitol building, unlike Washington D.C.). However, this numbering system is also used in some Utah communities that did not have their own temples when their street networks were laid out.

Summer Ridge Road => Eight Thousand South (Murray UT):

Dearing Road → E Grand Avenue, in front of the Iowa state capitol. (Fun fact: in Des Moines' early days, Grand Ave was known as Sycamore St, before it was renamed.)

Did you get Extraterrestrial Highway? That hasn't been played yet.

Thanx for the reminder. I indeed too that photo in pre-digital camera days. I'll have to scrounge up a copy and add it to my queue.

In the meantime,

With apologies to Oscar for intruding on his turf....Hyssop Drive ---> Pollard Street (Arlington, Virginia, last Monday). This name always amuses me because I know a priest whose last name is Pollard, but I can never bring myself to address him as Father anything because we lived near each other when we were kids and went to the same grade school.

Since I'm three time zones away at the moment, you'll have to cover my turf in my absence.

Hiram Rd → Memphis Dr. (Norman, OK)

(This shows a minor variant to some of Norman's 2000s-era signage: note the wide space between the street name and the suffix. Such wide spaces haven't carried over to the mixed-case versions.)

Memphis Dr. => Spectrum West (Chino CA -- there's also a "Spectrum East" in Chino, so I'd interpret "West" as a directional, and play an M____ rather than a T____ in response):

Merriam Dr. (leaving Ln. for someone else to use later) → MacArthur Blvd. (Oklahoma City, OK)

Check out that sucky arrow! This sign later got destroyed by an overheight truck.
