4 feet is expected in the Sierra Nevada, with gusting to a freaking 110 mph. Now that's a snow-i-cane!

froggie

Only if the sustained winds are 74 MPH or higher...

Daaaum I heard that New York got like 2,000,000,000 feet of snow!!! Well maybe not that much but still, I heard that they got ALOT...

It comes with the territory...literally.

I can't speak for New York, but this has been the snowiest Winter in Pennsylvania in years.  I'd have to go back almost 20 years to remember when it seemed like there was a snow storm or Nor'easter hitting us with such frequency as they have been recently.

Chris

It has also been the snowiest winter in the Netherlands for at least 4 decades.

Regular winters generate 13 days of snow cover on average. So far we've had... 55 days of snow cover.

Snowed here in Birmingham this morning, just when I was leaving for school.  So, I had to drive in the snow yet again.  :banghead:

55 here in sunny Union County, where it's actually sunny too.

the snow is melting, so there are large heaps of mud everywhere.  One large heap of mud wants into the house.  Apparently, when the good lord issued his proclamation that all cats are to be fastidiously clean, some weren't paying much attention...

Snowing again in the Richmond, VA, area again tonight, but so far it hasn't stuck to the roads and it's not supposed to as temperatures are forecasted to remain above freezing

The white stuff's coming down on-and-off here in Hampton too, and is sticking to my car, though not the ground. However temperatures are already only hovering around freezing, and reports are coming in that there is some accumulation in Virginia Beach, Yorktown, and even into North Carolina.  The forecasts are calling for 1-2 inches of accumulation over tonight and tomorrow morning.

It's been a while since the last March snowfall that I can recall.

That sound a lot like what I saw last night and this morning.  The only accumulation that I knew of was on the Cumberland Plateau to the east of here.

Not much on your end, but everyone from Pennsy down to Norfolk got snow on 3/2/09.

algorerhythms

It was in the 70s yesterday. Now there's about half an inch of snow on the ground, with much more expected. Such is the way of March in Oklahoma.

mightyace

Yesterday and today were in the 70s.

However, Monday was in the 40s and 50s where I was (Sevierville and Knoxville, TN) with snow flurries in the morning.

Several inches here in Central & Northern Ohio last night.  But it's going to be 50 again in C-bus come tomorrow.
Please, don't sue Alex & Andy over what I wrote above

It's been a while since anyone's contributed to this thread so does it mean all the snow has gone? Here we've had no precipitation for over a week and the sun has been extremely strong. Suddenly the garden has come to life and the snow is now but a distant memory - all in the space of a month.

Mr_Northside

Here in Western PA, I don't count out the possibility of more snow until at least the start of May.

That being said, I'm pretty confident we won't see any more of the white stuff here until the start of next winter.
I don't have opinions anymore. All I know is that no one is better than anyone else, and everyone is the best at everything

This weekend, we are expecting the biggest snow event in about 20 years here in Birmingham.  Remains to be seen if it actually happens.

Duke87

The storm that hit the New York area on the night of December 26th was a nasty one. 20 inches or something like that, and windy windy windy. Metro-North was completely shut down all day Monday, the subway was in shambles (some people got stuck on an A train by JFK overnight), and many streets weren't plowed for days. I missed work that Monday on account of it all.

Meanwhile, today we've gotten another 6+ inches up here in Stamford. The roads weren't too bad when I was coming home (early, ~3:30), but my neighborhood hadn't been plowed in a while and was a few inches under. Was still passable, but "fun" nonetheless. Something I learned today: my car has a safety feature that prevents me from overturning the wheel when I start to lose traction. I didn't know that!
Then I attempted to make it up my driveway... yeah, that wasn't happening. I can't clear six inches of snow in my Ford Focus no matter what. So, I ended up parked on the street. On the wrong side, but with all the slipping and sliding I was doing (the street in front of my house is on a hill which I'd eyeball to be about a 10% grade), once I ended up snugly against the first curb I could, I was going to call it good. Of course, I was less up against the curb so much as up against a giant pile of snow from the last storm that was still sitting there, and I had to climb over and get out the passenger side. Then half an hour later the snow plow came by and buried my car.

Looks like I'm digging myself out tomorrow!
If you always take the same road, you will never see anything new.

It's snowing here again but it's only supposed to be a dusting.
