We have a chance of snow from Saturday night through Monday night, with the highest chance being on Sunday night (40%).

No snow in Tucson  :-(

Meanwhile, I'm likely the only person within at least 100 miles of here who has a set of studded snow tires sitting in reserve, anxiously awaiting deployment. Patience, good tires. In just two years  you'll be in seasonal use again.

There was a bit of a snowfall here this morning, but nothing as major to close school for a day. Tomorrow I head to Harrisburg for the PA Farm Show. There I can go see how much snow they got.

Chance of snow here in the New York metro (and probably the Philly metro too, so rejoice Ian!) on Tuesday night into wednesday. Could be a major storm...I sure hope so (no school! no school! lol)

Duke87

There's a 40% chance of snow on Tuesday/Wednesday. And the temperature is forecast at 34 degrees. So, don't expect too much out of it.

Monday may be really ugly in metro Atlanta.  Two to five inches of snow changing into sleet/freezing rain with temp not getting above freezing.  They are already predicting ice accumulation and associated power outages:

The forecast here in Jackson is kinda tricky. We're likely gonna get a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain. Don't know how much we're gonna get, though. Perhaps a couple of inches. I don't mind the snow, but I don't want the ice.

Had lots of snow here in metro Detroit last night. My neighborhood pounded by yet another typical brutal Michigan snowstorm.

Looking out my window. Its snowing right now.  :coffee:
Please, don't sue Alex & Andy over what I wrote above

Sleet and ice here in Birmingham for now.  Expecting snow tonight.

Ian

Snowfall expected on Tuesday and into Wednesday up here. Snow day?  :hyper:

The grass and the streets are heavily coated here in Metro Atlanta.

Snow started in Middle TN between 10 and 12pm last night.

I had to get about 4-5" of snow off my car this morning to get to work.

The roads are mostly clear and very few people out and about.

I probably would have worked from home except that I was out sick most of last week and was getting a bit stir crazy.

It snowed in Wichita, which gave me a chance at my favorite winter sports activity:  shoveling snow.  We got about three inches with no ice underlayer and when I shoveled snow just now, temperatures were close to freezing with no wind.

My personal KDOT RWIS camera feed page shows snow coverage all over the state, with a minimum one lane in each direction clear on I-70 except in far western Kansas, with two lanes clear in both directions on Interstates in eastern and central Kansas.  Kansas Turnpike RWIS cameras (which--sigh--are all at tollbooths instead of on the open road, with the lone exception of one camera in the Flint Hills) show meltwater instead of ice near toll plazas.  I don't think this snow is going to hang around for long.

Yesterday, when the snow first started, the RWIS feed for I-70 milepost 57, which is usually pointed at an overpass, showed a Highway Patrol cruiser responding to a pickup truck which had run off the road and crashed (at low speed, judging from the lack of metal deformation) into the guardrail protecting the median pier.  Five minutes later, when I went to reload my RWIS page from a different computer, the image had been replaced by a message reading "Image temporarily unavailable."  It might have been a convenient malfunction but I incline to suspect a high degree of coordination between RWIS and law enforcement.

Several Interstates are closed in Georgia: I-20 in Conyers; I-85 in Union City; and I-20 between Fulton Industrial Blvd. and I-285 (West Atlanta).

Here in Wyandotte, MI, snowfall expected starting Tuesday afternoon and continuing into Wednesday. Would this mean a snow day?  :spin: Find out on Wednesday.

Hmm....

QuoteTuesday Night
Snow. Snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches. Lows in the lower 20s. East winds 5 to 10 mph...becoming northeast 10 to 15 mph after midnight. Chance of snow near 100 percent.

So much for not expecting too much out of it.

Major snowfall as of this writing starting at 1:18 PM EST.

The forecast additional snow did not show up in any significant fashion and the roads were clear today, though many schools were still closed.

Public schools in Wichita and surrounding districts had a snow day today, despite being in session yesterday.  Main roads were completely clear and the side streets were sufficiently passable that I went for a walk as normal (though I had to shorten my stride on glare ice and walk through one snowdrift).  The reason cited for the schools closure was low temperatures (11° F low, 15° F high) combined with wind chills which were considered dangerously low for young children sent out to wait for school buses.

I'm expecting a snow day tomorrow as a major snowstorm approaches the New York area this evening. Yay!

Bryant5493

Been off of work since Monday; haven't been outside of my neighborhood since Saturday. The roads are getting better here in Metro Atlanta, although GDOT's going to have to do better in terms of treating the roads; that being in the South thing's getting old as an excuse.

Lucky you. We'll probably end up with a 2 hour delay at the most.  :-/

And the forecast inflates further. We may be getting a full foot.
I brought my computer home with me today so I can work from home tomorrow if need be.

Of course, those couple inspections I had scheduled won't be getting done from home... I may be driving to Queens in the afternoon even if I'm not going into the office in the morning.
