Gum was verboten at my high school (as was dip)

It wasn't allowed at my high school either, but people in high places could get away with it (as long as they didn't bubble).
Nowadays, it's commmonplace! Just like weed is! ;-) At mine anyways...

Real heroes smoked weed in high school while it was 100% illegal.

I understood the joke.

You need to use an emoticon (like freebrickproductions used) if you're going to be sarcastic. It's nearly impossible to sense sarcasm online.

Real heroes smoked weed in high school while it was 100% illegal.

Or they blew bubbles that burst on their glasses.

This happened to the kids who chewed on Pintos at my school.

What do Q- Tips do?

Clean ears, among other things.

Well, if it is cleaned it is fine to use.

If it's clean, it doesn't count as used. Therefore you're not "reusing" it.

Why has this thread lasted so long, out of almost 50 replies, only one is more than two sentences.

LOL. Fundemental misunderstanding here. Google q-tip :-D
Unlike a toothbrush/washcloth/insert other cleaning device of choice, q-tips are meant to be disposable.

My wife actually found (in a dollar store of course,) a plastic reusable ear swab.

Used it once.  Not a good idea to use them at all.
