No, it is because we don't have states.
Does your nation have regions?

I've been to the capital many times, and also the capitol (Statehouse) once during an 8th grade field trip, which also included going up to the 40th floor of the Rhodes State Office Tower across the street.

I obviously have, but have any of you not?

Current state of Virginia, yes, I live in the capital city.  Been in the capitol building many times as I worked a couple blocks from there for 30 years.

Lived in central Florida in 1960s, but I have never visited Tallahassee.
Lived in northern Illinois in 1950s, but I have never visited Springfield.
Lived a long distance away in both cases.

Lived in SE Pennsylvania in 1970s, visited Harrisburg many times then, and later on.

Other capital cities visited:  GA, SC, NC, MD, DE, NJ, CT, VT, NY, OH, IN, OK, AR, LA, TN, WV

I’ve been to the capital city of the following states:
California
Colorado
Georgia
Idaho
Massachusetts
New Mexico
Oklahoma
Texas
Utah
Wyoming
And Washington, DC.

Wow, I’m surprised it’s that small. I’ve been to 33 34 states, but only 10 state capital cities.

EDIT: I went to TN this summer, so now it's 34.

I've been to Montgomery at least once, and I know I pass through it at least twice every two years. I've also been to the capitols (or at least gone through the capitols) of TN, GA, PA, and AZ.

(Haven't actually been inside any state Capitols, save the US Capitol Building when I was 10.)

Capitol buildings...mostly just drive-up or walk up and take a photo.
AL, FL, GA, LA, TN, TX, RI, NY, CT, IA, NM, WI, ME, OK, PA

Two former Capitol buildings: MS, AR

Visited or passed-trhough capital cities:
Columbia, Raleigh, Richmond, Trenton, Boston, Concord, Columbus, Indianapolis, St. Paul, Denver, Phoenix, Olympia, Sacramento

I guess I could include Salem, OR but just zooming by the outskirts of the city on I-5 seems a bit weak.
