I take pictures of road signs, that's about it.

General rule of thumb: Just stay in the "Traffic Control" section of the forum and you'll be fine.

Just adding a bonus photo for 1357 because I feel that the sign sculpture is cheating.

Maybe...but it was installed by a DOT and composed of real signage. YMMV

Unrelated to the thread, but I like the use of a BGS here with the cardinal directions and arrows, resulting in one shield per route. It seems a lot cleaner than the normal sign salad way with independent elements. I wonder why this format isn't done more... (MUTCD doesn't specify something like this...maybe they should... :hmmm:)

It's also not a style commonly used in Florida. It looks similar to what is used recently in Alabama in place of sine salads.

At the time of the photo (2011), 812 was a recent designation at the time of the photo (1-2 years old) so I wonder if someone from FDOT or even Palm Beach County just whipped something up instead of the traditional array of shields. US 98 was moved to north of this point a few years prior, as well. Rather than cutting up 9 shields, arrows, and directional plaques, it probably billed out a lot cheaper to design and install, too.

It also denotes direction a little better since a reader is at a north-and-west/south-and-east decision; the photo is taken from FL 15/80, which is also North / East. Don't tell the MUTCD guide-thumpers...
